  1. I first want to start off and say if this is posted somewhere, I am sorry for reposting this question. The site would not let me search.

    This said,

I recently purchased a used 2003 GS300 with 42,000 miles on it. I have been averaging 14.9 mpg - 16.9mpg. This is with 60% driving city and 40% highway. The EPA suggests 18mpg city and 25 highway. I should be averaging around 20mpg. I took my car into the Lexus Dealership where I purchased it, and they kept it for 2 days, testing it on the machines, and supposedly filled it up, drove 41 miles, and put 2 gallons back in it. Therefore getting 20.5 mpg.

During this time they loaned me a ES350 (EPA 21 city 30 highway) which I have been driving twice as aggresive as I do my own. I have been driving it 75% non aggresive but 25% aggresively flooring it, and accelerating harder than in my own and I am averaging 21.5 mpg. HOW the hell does this happen?

I traded in a 2006 350Z which has 19city and 26 highway. I drover car the same 60% city 40% highway and averaged 21-24 mpg when driving non aggressive, and 18-20mpg when driving more aggresively. When I drove it completely messing around, power sliding, racing, highway speeds at 90+ I would STILL GET 17mpg, Which is MUCH better than the GS300 getting 14.9mpg when I am driving barely aggresive. (before anyone says anything about my racing, power sliding, and 90+ highway speeds, understand this is this reason I got rid of the 350Z and got the GS300)

Has anyone else had this same issue? or Should i just accept getting crap for gas milage?

I have a 2003 GS 300 sport design and I average in the city 24 and Highway 28. I seen a big jump when I switched over to a synthetic oil and a K&N AIR filter.

  2. I am trying to trade my 18" 2007 GS430 5 spoke OEM Lexus wheels and tires (yokohama advan 425/40YR18) for some 17" GS400 wheels, tires and some cash or with two sets of tires (non studded winter and summer). I would love to keep my 18's but cant afford to put witner tires on them right now and would be willing to 'downgrade' to some 17s (Lexus wheels only) either with cash to buy winter tires or perhaps you already have two sets of tires for your 17s. I'm not desperate or in a huge hurry, but perhaps someone out there is interested. My 18s are almost brand new, about 4,000 miles and NO damage of any kind (not even a scratch or knick). Let me know if you have what i am looking for and are willing to strike a deal.

I have a set of 16 off a 2003 GS 300 sport design. I also have a set of blizzaks with about 15k on them.

Let me know if your interested.

  4. I have a 2000 GS 300 WITH 150,000 miles on it. I had the tranny flushed at 70,000 and 140,000. The last 10,000 miles I noticed the transmission when descending in a parking ramp and letting off the gas it would jerk and feel like a brake is being applied and then released. It also does this in other declines but only when in first gear.

Is this a solenoid issue or is the tranny starting to fail?

  5. I have a 2000 GS 300 with 150,000 miles on it. Lately the driver side seat belt does not want to retrack back after releasing it from the buckle. If I turn the ignition off it will slowly return.

    Any suggestions.

Will it turn back slowly no matter if the engine was just turned off or not? It shouldn’t make a difference since it’s a separate component. Sound like the retractor/tensioner might be worn out. If you yank on it quicky does it still lock in place. I would just buy a new belt and assembly if its not working properly. This is one parts of the car you want in perfect condition.

it does turn back slowly. It does still lock but you have to question the operation. I agree I will just replace.

    Thx
