Hey guys. New to the forums. Let me explain a little. I've wanted a Honda Prelude since I was 13. I am now 15 and know a lot about Hondas. Only reason I went for Honda is because I've worked on a lot of them and they're in my price range. I was looking through the latest Import Tuner magazine and was reading about Lexus SC300's. I saw that the Kelley Blue Book price (for 92-95) was $8k-$12k. I have always loved the SC's but always thought they were somewhere around $20k+. Now I want an SC. My parents drive Lexus' and I know how good quality they are and how long they last. My mom is at 160k miles with no problems. And the name Lexus is just above all else. I'm paying for my whole car and have about $7,500 saved up but I can make payments because I have a steady job. I am asking for your suggestion about what to buy. I want power but of course style, ladies love luxury right. Only set back is I pay for insurance, how much is insurance for a 16 y/o kid with a Lexus SC300? So I'm asking you, should I get the SC? How much power are does normal bolt-ons add (i/h/c/e)? Also, is a turbo setup available for the SC300? Thank you in advance. :D
Couple more questions, what are the specs of the SC including interior (leather, etc.). Also, is a swap required to get any real power out of the SC300? Finally, what is the stock engine code? I know you can swap the stock V6 for a 2JZ but is it worth it? Thank you.
Cliff notes:
I'm 15 and want an SC300. I have $7500 to spend and can make payments. I am paying for insurance. No help from parents. If I don't get SC300 I'll get a Prelude.
BTW, I must have a manual transmission car!! :D
And mileage won't matter if I get a swap. :D But I'm guessing a 2JZ engine is harder to come by then a H-series engine. :( And why are there so many auto SC300's? Can I do a tranny swap??
