  1. I am reposting this with a more descriptive title, since I was not getting any replies on the first try titled just "Airbags." Need to know how to disconnect the driver's airbag on a 1991 LS400 (We have some short drivers who must sit very close to the steering wheel). The fuse for the SRS airbag, et al, (#5 in the driver's kick panel) had been removed when I bought the car a few days ago. I wonder if it was removed intentionally, but I suspect that there is more to disconnecting the airbag than just removing a fuse. Besides, I would like to replace Fuse #5 so that the cigarette lighter outlet will work for recharging my cell phone. Thanks for any help you can provide. BillyC 1991 LS400

  3. Checked the brake calipers - all bolts are there and everything is tight. Other ideas? Thanks, BillyC 1991 LS400
  4. My 1991 LS 400 owners manual has the following caution. "Do not disconnect the battery without first contacting the dealer." Why is that? Will I screw up some codes? Will the alarm system disable the engine? Will I have to have the car towed to the dealer for resetting? Please enlighten me as I do my own work when possible and occasionally will need to disconnect the battery. Thanks. BillyC 1991 LS400 - North Alabama
  5. Thanks VBdenny, I'll check it out. The former owner said that the front brakes were redone by the Lexus dealer in Huntsville, Al, about 6 weeks ago. BillyC 1991 LS400 - North Alabama
  6. Just bought a 1991 LS400 with the following problem. Often, but not every time, when the brakes are applied there is a pop or thump sound. It seems to be coming from the right front, but since I can't make it happen at will, it is difficult to localize. If the car has been backed up and then the next time the brakes are applied as the car moves forward is when it appears to happen. Anyone had a similiar experience or any ideas on this subject? Thanks in advance. BillyC 91LS400
