  1. I'm sorry, kisik, but I don't know if calling our beloved GS3 a beater car is the good way to get honest feedback. I detect flames inc.

But, to answer your inquiry: I drive a 2000GS3 (just broke 150k miles) that was given to me by my dad. Other than a few minor problems such as door lock actuators and other small stuff, the car still drives like the day my dad bought it. Good price but I can't judge a car based on such little information. Have you seen a carfax report on the car?

  2. 2002 GS300

Right Rear door lock won't function at all with automatic locking functions. Works manually only.

Faulty lock? Disconnected wire? I don't think there would be a separate fuse for each door . . . .

Any suggestions as to were to look?

How much trouble is it to remove/replace the door panel?

Door lock actuators go out. Common problem. You can either take it into the dealership or attempt to do it yourself.

  3. Says right on the inside of the fuel door - "Use Premium Fuel Only" or something of that sort. Premium usually being 91 octane. However, I've been using 87 (Gas is expensive in California) for the past 8 years on my 2000 GS3 and haven't had any fuel-related problems. Don't really notice a difference when I use premium either.

  4. It's pretty easy but very time consuming.

    - You are going to have 3 wire runs from the front of the vehicle to the back (assuming you are placing your amp in the trunk).

    - You'll have a power wire (how powerful is the amp, you need to make sure you have a big enough gauge wire to handle the amp. Either 4awg or 8awg will most likely work).

    - You are going to want to run the power wire on the passenger side of the vehicle and the Remote wire and RCAs on the driver side (This reduces the chance of having engine noise).

-You'll run the power wire from the amp through the firewall to the battery (Don't drill a hole through the bottom of the car and run the wire underneath the body of the vehicle, its a fire hazard and tacky.)

    - You will also need to find a place to ground your amp. When you do this, make sure you scrap off the paint on the body of the car with a razor to make sure you have a solid ground connection.

    - Back to RCAs and Remote wire. You'll run those from the amp to behind the dash to your aftermarket head unit. You should have a lowpass RCA or Rear RCA input on the back of your deck. You'll connect the Remote wire to the wiring harness connecting your deck to the factory harness (this wire is either blue or most of the time blue/white wire)

All that information should cover it, let me know if you have any questions. During my college years I worked at a stereo shop so I'm full of all kinds of info. Best of Luck!!!

    Nick,

How much info are you needing? How to install everything or just how to install it on the back shelf?

How to wire from the amps to the head unit and power supply. I bought the set from a former BWM owner, and there batteries are in the back, so i need to know how to run it to a Lexus battery.

    However any information would help

    Thanks,

    Nick

With the newer GSs theres much more to it than just a simple install. The speakers and factory sub are running on a factory amp located in the glove box. In order to correctly do this install, you're going to need to rewire all the speakers in your car into your new head unit. If you don't know how to do this, then do the rest of the setup, and then take your car in to Al & Ed's or similar car stereo place (Not Circuit City or Best Buy, they're idiots).

  5. I have the same problem. Is their anyway you can e-mail me a picture of the wiring at greaper0592@yahoo.com

Wiring is not something you want to do without completely detailed instructions.

My first attempt at installing a headunit in my car failed miserably with a $500 trip to the Lexus dealer for something that I messed up.

Do this at your own risk... or you could take your car into a stereo shop, pay 150-200 bucks, and let them assume full responsibility for any damages done to your car.

  6. I just found this which also clues me onto Grey.

    1998 Lexus GS300/400 Stereo Information

    Constant 12V+ Blue/Yellow

    Switched 12V+ Gray

    Ground Brown

    Illumination n/a

    Dimmer n/a

    Antenna Rear Window

    Front Speakers 5 1/4" Doors

    Left Front (+) Pink

    Left Front (-) Purple

    Right Front (+) Light Green

    Right Front (-) Blue

Rear Speakers 5 1/4" Rear Door

    Left Rear (+) Black

    Left Rear (-) Yellow

    Right Rear (+) Red

    Right Rear (-) White

I would not trust that wiring if I were you. When I was making the first attempt at installing an aftermarket stereo in my 00 gs300 I used that. Caused about $300 worth of damage and a trip to my friendly dealer.

  7. I had the same problem. There are just two LEDs, not sure what type or voltage, but I had to replace the entire thing because some segments on my LCD burnt out too. I bought it off someone on here, can't remember who. Here are my pics:

    th_DSC04212.jpg

Looks back to normal now, took about 2 hours to replace. PM if you need help on how to take it apart. They dealerships wont help much either, they just want like $800 to replace the entire stereo.

I still have the lcd's with photo install instructions if your interested.

Umm, not to sound ungrateful, but your photo instructions weren't that good. They were of the wrong radio, and I could not read your hand writing for the life of me. The unit works perfectly though, so thanks for that.

When I had this problem, I decided to go for an upgrade rather than a replacement. Installed an Alpine deck(with iPod in the glove box) with 2 10" subs in the trunk. Figured I might as well considering I had the stereo stuff in my attic.

  8. Doja, I am having the same problem with my front passenger door. I hadn't driven the car for a week, when I went to lock the doors there was no light flash or chirp. I figured the CBEST setting had changed after not touching the car for so long and the battery had become weak. I then noticed after I would lock the car witht the FOB, I would hear it unlock. That was the passenger door. I messed with the inside lock mechanism manually, and it started working. Then on Monday it was not working again. I was a little frustrated last night, so when I locked it I held the button down a little longer, which seemed to not let the door unlock iteslf again...the lights flashed and the alarm chirped. I know this isn't a long term thing, but it made me feel better! I am guessing the actuator is failing. This has had to happen to someone else, hasn't it???

It's becoming quite a hassle as it is making my alarm non-functional. I've pulled it apart but I'm not an electrical genius. I'm about to give in and take it to the dealer. I need some belts replaced anyways.

  9. *Want to make a correction about my subject name - It is not the entire side that is not working, it is just the Front Driver Side Door, aka the door that matters most*

    I have a 2000 GS300.

All of a sudden today, when I went to unlock my car in the morning, I heard the double-beep but no tail light flashes. So, I try opening my driver door to find that it is still locked. Try my remote again, still not working. So I go back inside, grab my other key, and it still doesn't work. So I manually open my door, and go inside to investigate further. When I tried locking the car doors by pressing the lock button, all other doors except the driver door locked. Same thing with unlocking. I tried resetting my battery and I checked out the fuses. All to no avail.

Another thing - usually when my headlights are on, and I hit the lock button on my key twice, the headlights will turn off. However, now they will not.

Like I said my first guess was fuse, but that checked out alright.

Anyone ever had a problem like this with this car? I have never heard of a power lock going out like this.

P.S. I want to avoid taking my car to the dealer if possible because they seem to overcharge for every little thing.

  10. I have been browsing the backpages of these forums for quite some time looking for a solution to my problem.

I recently purchased a 2000 GS300 and I am looking to give it a little extra horsepower to match the addition of two 12" subs and a couple amps in the back. The best recommended company, it seems, is Swift Racing Technologies, but their cold intakes are running at $450.00, which is a little out of my price range at the moment. Can anyone suggest a good-quality intake that carries a smaller price tag?

    Any help would be appreciated.

  11. I HAVE SEARCHED PAST POSTS!!!

I am aware that the cold weather can bring noise.... This is my first winter with the GS and I'm not sure whats normal and whats a broken...anything

The creaking noise just began a couple of days ago when the temp dropped from like 70 to 20.

My 98 gs300, (113k) has began to have a loud creaking noise when im breaking at slow speeds, along with a slight grunting sound when accelerating (only in drive. Doesn't occur when accelerating in park).

Ive had the grunting sound checked out in an inspection and no one can find anything. 3 different mechanics said that everything looks good in my suspension. I know that they each believed that i have vehicular munchausens syndrome, since all sounds stopped each time i tried to show them.

Eventually someone heard the grunting and thought that it might be a rattling O2 sensor that i recently installed. So.... I had it checked out, and no one could find anything remotely loose, cracked, or otherwise bad...

I have had the complete passenger side suspension replaced after a summer accident so I know that these pieces are new.....

Im not toooo car saavvy so don't be appauled at my ignorance. I am about to make my second 14hr drive from Nashville to Queens, so I need to know that I'll make it there on all 4 wheels.

Thanks in advance for any ideas where to begin.

Im getting the same "Creaking" sound I think you're getting when braking at low speeds at my 00 gs300. I have had multiple shops check it out and they say they cant see a problem, but they can hear it. Repost if you find the problem

  12. LMAO

You being a complete moron/Jackass doesn't help you either but you still seem to be able to function.

I asked you to read the link i have as it is for threads such as this one with absolutely no information that helps answer anything.

One cannot even conceive what the question is without having 12 more questions.

Stop being an asss about it and conceive that you made a poorly written post.

What do you have on the car what are you trying to accomplish how much you want to spend and how able are you to DIY a project. All questions that should have been provided with your post but you seem to smart for that.

Firstly, I will say that my car is stock for the most part (exception being an intake and exhaust system. If you look carefully, the question marks at the end of my post is a link to HID bulbs. But money is not an object in this case. 2000 GS 300 and I provided the item that I want to put on. This is all in my original post. So there's my first point.
