  1. I'm sorry, kisik, but I don't know if calling our beloved GS3 a beater car is the good way to get honest feedback. I detect flames inc. But, to answer your inquiry: I drive a 2000GS3 (just broke 150k miles) that was given to me by my dad. Other than a few minor problems such as door lock actuators and other small stuff, the car still drives like the day my dad bought it. Good price but I can't judge a car based on such little information. Have you seen a carfax report on the car?
  2. In my opinion 19s are pushing it. 18s look great and they don't sacrifice much ride quality from the the stock 16s.
  3. Door lock actuators go out. Common problem. You can either take it into the dealership or attempt to do it yourself.
  4. Says right on the inside of the fuel door - "Use Premium Fuel Only" or something of that sort. Premium usually being 91 octane. However, I've been using 87 (Gas is expensive in California) for the past 8 years on my 2000 GS3 and haven't had any fuel-related problems. Don't really notice a difference when I use premium either.
  5. How to wire from the amps to the head unit and power supply. I bought the set from a former BWM owner, and there batteries are in the back, so i need to know how to run it to a Lexus battery. However any information would help Thanks, Nick With the newer GSs theres much more to it than just a simple install. The speakers and factory sub are running on a factory amp located in the glove box. In order to correctly do this install, you're going to need to rewire all the speakers in your car into your new head unit. If you don't know how to do this, then do the rest of the setup, and then take your car in to Al & Ed's or similar car stereo place (Not Circuit City or Best Buy, they're idiots).
  6. Wiring is not something you want to do without completely detailed instructions. My first attempt at installing a headunit in my car failed miserably with a $500 trip to the Lexus dealer for something that I messed up. Do this at your own risk... or you could take your car into a stereo shop, pay 150-200 bucks, and let them assume full responsibility for any damages done to your car.
  7. Just curious what a normal idle speed is for my car. I have a 2000 GS300 and it idles at 400-500 RPMs. This seems kinda low so I was just looking for some input.
  8. There might be a slight drop, but the 16" wheels have thicker tires, and the 18" ones have tires that are about half as thick. Your best bet would be a lowering kit like an inch or so.
  9. 118-120 in my 2000 GS300 on a desert 2 lane highway. So much adrenaline i was nearly crying at the end.
  10. I'll give this a try some time soon. Thanks for the help.
  11. Haven't had any spare time to take my car into the dealer yet to have them look at it. I'm thinking it's just an actuator and I might try to replace it myself. Your problem is a little more severe than mine. My door actually opens fortunately I just have to manually unlock it.
  12. I would not trust that wiring if I were you. When I was making the first attempt at installing an aftermarket stereo in my 00 gs300 I used that. Caused about $300 worth of damage and a trip to my friendly dealer.
  13. Looks like you're gonna be driving your kick-!Removed! bike around :cries:
  14. I still have the lcd's with photo install instructions if your interested. Umm, not to sound ungrateful, but your photo instructions weren't that good. They were of the wrong radio, and I could not read your hand writing for the life of me. The unit works perfectly though, so thanks for that. When I had this problem, I decided to go for an upgrade rather than a replacement. Installed an Alpine deck(with iPod in the glove box) with 2 10" subs in the trunk. Figured I might as well considering I had the stereo stuff in my attic.
  15. It's becoming quite a hassle as it is making my alarm non-functional. I've pulled it apart but I'm not an electrical genius. I'm about to give in and take it to the dealer. I need some belts replaced anyways.
  16. Bump because i am having the same problem with my driver door locks
  17. *Want to make a correction about my subject name - It is not the entire side that is not working, it is just the Front Driver Side Door, aka the door that matters most* I have a 2000 GS300. All of a sudden today, when I went to unlock my car in the morning, I heard the double-beep but no tail light flashes. So, I try opening my driver door to find that it is still locked. Try my remote again, still not working. So I go back inside, grab my other key, and it still doesn't work. So I manually open my door, and go inside to investigate further. When I tried locking the car doors by pressing the lock button, all other doors except the driver door locked. Same thing with unlocking. I tried resetting my battery and I checked out the fuses. All to no avail. Another thing - usually when my headlights are on, and I hit the lock button on my key twice, the headlights will turn off. However, now they will not. Like I said my first guess was fuse, but that checked out alright. Anyone ever had a problem like this with this car? I have never heard of a power lock going out like this. P.S. I want to avoid taking my car to the dealer if possible because they seem to overcharge for every little thing.
  18. Wiring harness for what ? for an aftermarket head unit should have specified
  19. I have been searching for the past couple days both on these forums and around at car audio shops around where I live and I have not been able to find a wiring harness that fits my car. Does anyone know of a wiring harness that fits a 2000 GS300?
  20. I have been browsing the backpages of these forums for quite some time looking for a solution to my problem. I recently purchased a 2000 GS300 and I am looking to give it a little extra horsepower to match the addition of two 12" subs and a couple amps in the back. The best recommended company, it seems, is Swift Racing Technologies, but their cold intakes are running at $450.00, which is a little out of my price range at the moment. Can anyone suggest a good-quality intake that carries a smaller price tag? Any help would be appreciated.
  21. Im getting the same "Creaking" sound I think you're getting when braking at low speeds at my 00 gs300. I have had multiple shops check it out and they say they cant see a problem, but they can hear it. Repost if you find the problem
  22. Firstly, I will say that my car is stock for the most part (exception being an intake and exhaust system. If you look carefully, the question marks at the end of my post is a link to HID bulbs. But money is not an object in this case. 2000 GS 300 and I provided the item that I want to put on. This is all in my original post. So there's my first point.
  23. Unfortunately you being a complete *BLEEP* does not help me with my question.
  24. I have a 2000 GS300. Anyone know if I need a conversion kit for these bulbs? ????? I have been searching on google for hours and have found nothing.
  25. Does anyone know the best way to go about removing the "Lexus" and "GS300" lettering from the back of my lexus? Thanks.
