  1. There are many occasions when, e.g., a passenger unlocks the seatbelt when moving at low speeds preparing to drop off, etc. when the alarm is especially annoying. does anyone know how to disable the alarm in a 2006 SC 430? I know when to wear a seat belt and do all the time, and do not need this feature.

I've seen posts about the IS, but those solutions don't appear to work for the SC. Any help, please. Thanks.

I hate the damn thing too. More of a nag than my ex-mother-in-law, and that's saying something. The dealer says it can't be disabled. I hope he's wrong.

  2. I've always considered dropping the RFTs but being cheap, I was waiting until they were nearer to the end of their useable life. That is, until last weekend. I was driving on a highway and had the air pressure alarm go off. Sure enough, when I pulled over and checked the tires, the right rear was at zero.

Being only about 25 miles from my dealer, I decided to limp over and get the tire fixed. WRONG! After about 12 miles the tire started to disassemble itself. I had to call Lexus towing and wait over an hour to get towed in. I no longer trust the RFTs to get me anywhere in case of puncture. The Lexus dealer informed me that there is no actual warranty for how long the RTS will hold-up and he thought 12 miles was pushing it!

From reading the many posts here, and my own research, I already knew I would buy Michelin Pilot Sport A/S tires, so I ordered 4 from Tire Rack and had them delivered. Picked the car up on Saturday and all I can say is DON'T wait to drop the RFTs! I can't believe the difference in noise, handling, and comfort with the new feet.

BTW, I also purchased a 12V compressor/fix-a-flat combo unit from Tire Rack. I'm sure I'll get better than 12 miles if I ever get another flat. It's called CONTI COMFORT KIT-12V PORTABLE and costs $79.

Add my voice to the pack.... don't keep the run flats!

  3. I know there is after market products which are offered with appropriate paint colors.

    Thanks

I use these things called *Door Defenders* and they're quite good.

The one caveat is that you must make sure they're free of grit, and that the surface you apply them to is equally free of grit. And do NOT, I repeat, do NOT move them once in place or you can scratch your paint. That said, I won't leave home without them.

  4. Ok, I'll go sit in the corner by myself now... :(

In the holy names of Jesus, Mary, and G.I. Joseph, can *anybody* tell me with certainty if there is any significant difference between the front ends of the 2005 and 2006 SC 430s that would preclude using a 2005 *FRONT PROTECTIVE DEVICE* (neither jock nor bra) on a 2006?

And would the two of you stop it and get a room already?

  5. I have Verizon and a LG/VX8300 phone and it works well. Very easy to program and the connection works at up to 20 feet. Look at www.verizonwireless.com/bluetoothchart. This should help you select the best fit.

I'm afraid this post is a bit misleading. I have the LGVX8100, and while you can manually tap in all the phone numbers you wish, you cannot upload your entire phone book. It took me three hours (and a seriously sore finger) to 'program' my entrie phone book into the car. Further, while the phone is supposed to connect at up to 20 feet away, it still mysteriously disconnects every so often at six inches away, and once disconnected, will not reconnect unless you turn off the car and restart it. Once again, then, if you're thinking of Verizon, caveat emptor. Or, put simply, don't say I didn't warn you :cries:

btw I just checked the url the poster supplied, and it very clearly states that you cannot upload your phonebook with his phone either.

  6. I've heard over the years that Verizon service is incompatible, or near-incompatible, with the SC430's bluetooth capability. The dealer has told me Cingular works perfectly, Sprint (which I have) decently, and Verizon not well at all. I had to borrow someone's Cingular phone to input phone numbers into my car phone address book, but did manage to thereby bypass my Sprint phone's inability to do that. I'm now thinking about switching carriers to Verizon and purchasing a Blackberry, but won't/can't if it won't work with my SC430's bluetooth.

    Any information? Thanks.

I have a Verizon wireless phone, and it's a royal pain to integrate with the SC's bluetooth. While it does 'work', you can't upload your phone book, and you have to enter every single number manually. Too, for reasons known only to the digital demons that roam the cyber-ether, despite my Verizon phone being less than two feet away from the display screen (nestled in the cup holder) the thing disconnects repeatedly, and will not reconnect until I restart the car. Put simply, from my experience, if you plan to use hands-free a good deal of the time to make a good deal of your calls, Verizon is a bad deal indeed.
