I have tinted rear doors, back glass and spoiler, however my personal opinion is that chrome wheels make the Lexus look cheap, look around, you see one with one without the without looks better... I have chrome on my 65 El Camino, they look great... If you get chrome make sure they are the best you can get other wise they get tarnished easier..

I go to the garage in the mornings to let my IS warm up before I hit the traffic seen. I was just thinking, what if I left the key fob in my house after starting up the car. When I start driving it away from the house would it shut itself off?
I thought I read this on another post but I couldnt find it after searching for a while. Hopefully, this is not a repost!
Can anyone tell me if the IS has a timer or something that will not allow the driver to leave without the keys?
You would still be able to drive until you turn it off by pressing the button. Sorry there's no timer for this as far as I know. :)

I'm looking to order an '07 IS 250 RWD ... with the premium package and the NAVI ... just wondering, is there ANY package that folks have on their 250/350 that they could NOT live without?? Anything they highly recommend someone get, if money was not an option?

I'm doing research ... and can find an '07 IS 250 RWD w/ NAVI and the Premium package for about $700 over invoice ... around the high $33s ... however, I was contemplating if ML and/or the Luxury plus package are worth the extra money ... how good is the stock system in comparison?

I don't think a premium package comes with ML and NAVI. However, if you can get all that for high $33s go for it!

Hey, Does anyone have any pictures of an 06' IS with tint? Please post them if you do, and post what kind of tint it is and what percent. Is it true that the light and dark tint both block out the same amount of UV rays and they both cut the same amount of heat? And does anyone know if llumar tint is good? I can't decide either to get the legal or the 15 percent, does the 15 percent give alot of reflection when looking into the mirriors? And is it hard to see at night? And how many of you have been caught and prosecuted over illegal tint?
We're in So Cal. Our IS 250 got 20% on the rear (rear window, side window & 1/4 glass) and 40% on the 2 front side windows.
The tint guy recommended that we do the 40% and no darker on the front because it is almost illegal - the cops can still see you & see if you are wearing a seat belt or not, It's pretty ironic that while we were there having the tint done, an off duty LAPD officer was there as well having her windows done.
She actually commented that LAPD really don't look that hard @ tint but the CHP are FINATICAL about the tint being too dark. To them, it's their saftey possibly in jeopardy. If they "pinch" you, it's not just a fix it tix, you need to have the tint removed (at YOUR xpense) and then have it signed off by an officer. She said the best was to get the 40% on the front and if you're given a hassle tell the officer that this was the way it came from the dealer/factory (ie: that it is STANDARD)
BTW .. the tint on the Madator Mica Red with G Spyders is sweeeet lookin'

Dealer told me If I do a custom order on 07 IS350, I would have to pay MSRP? He said it is like this for all lexus dealers.
I think he just really wants to move the one on his lot, because he has been heavily pushing it instead of wanting me to do a custom order.
Is there such a rule where you have to pay MSRP if you custom order?

A week or so a go I had this problem. As I was backing up my IS into the garage, I noticed that the backup camera did not come up. It just showed the regular Map on the the screen. I then put the car into the P position then shifted to R again then the backup camera came up as normal. Had anyone ever experienced this? So far this was the only incident! Thanks all!

Its up to you whether you want to risk getting tickets for no front plate. I did it for a while but eventually had the plate put on. My thought was leaving it off was just giving a cop a reason to stop me if he wanted to, and you definately would get the ticket added onto any other ticket you were getting.
I'd have it installed and get a nice plate frame for it.

My plates just came in a few days ago. Here's the thing, I don't want to put on the front plate. I don't want to bring my car in to have the dealer install the front plate. Have you been driving without one? Is it legal? Do you get in trouble if you don't have it? By the way, I went to lunch today and counted the cars at the parking lot. About 27% of the cars don't have the front plate (that's 3 out of 11).

I think it will keep running til someone shuts it off or it runs out of gas.
The car will run until someone shuts it off. Also, the only warning is on the message center in the dash; no audible warning signal.
My car starts beeping anytime the key leaves it. Funny I didn't hear it that one day........
Wow this is so inconsistent! :) So does it beeps or no beeps?

I've used nothing but touchless car wash for several years now. No brushes, I drive it in and out, no problems. Of course, I'll do my own waxing, wheel cleaning etc.
I thought brush type car washes were a thing of the past.
Yes, that is exactly what I'm doing with my IS right now. Touchless car wash. Thanks all for your advice and suggestions. :)

Would you rather wash your IS yourself or bring it to the car wash? Have you ever had any bad experience where they damage your car at the car wash and if so, what did you do about it? I am thinking of taking my IS to a car wash but I am afraid that they would inadvertently damage it and I would not be able to do anything about it? Am I insane? Or is there anyone out there that can understand my fear? :)

I had a time that I dropped the car off to a valet, and forgot and took the key with me. They drove it away, but had to get my key in order to bring it back......
I was hoping that the engine will shut down automatically after 10 minutes or so once it senses that the key is not in proximity of the car.

I'm just wondering if I forgot to turn the engine off (not pressing the button) and left with my control. Will the engine stay on or it would automatically shut off after a certain period of time?

I tried it, but it didn't work, I have a question on #5 since I need to press and hold the button, the odometer display NEVER moved or display b on or b off, it just stay at the odometer, shouldn't I turn instead of HOLD? Please help.
The trick is on step 6. It's kind of hard for me to keep pressing and holding the trip reset button while putting on the seatbelt. I have to switch hand (while still making sure that the reset button is pressed and held). Then the magic "b-off" showed up for me so I just switched to "b-on" and the rest is history... :)

Sorry it's the other way around...b-on then i swiched to b-off. it's hard to do this at work. :)

Anyone that knows how to turn off the seatbelt warning will be great. I have tried the following hack, but it doesn't work...I wonder if it's because mine is a 2007 IS..THANKS!
1. turn the key to the ON position (press Start 2 times), foot off the brake
2. cycle the odometer with the trip reset button until the ODO is displayed (not trip A or B )
3. turn the ignition to the LOCK (OFF) position
4. unbuckle the driver's seatbelt if it was buckled.
5. turn the key to the ON position (Press Start 2 times). when the dash lights have come on, press and hold the trip reset button and count a slow 12 seconds. (editor's note, hold it more like 30 sec)
6. while still holding the trip reset button, buckle the driver's side seatbelt.
7. the odometer display should read "b ON" or "b OFF". toggle the beep OFF with the trip reset.
8. the process should be completed when you unbuckle or turn the key off
