  1. Erm... it was really hard using the search wit the more then 4 letter limit... My IS 250 is currently at 2,400 miles and I drive it 100% city in Irvine by UCI. I've been trying to squeeze as much as I can from it in terms of mileage - ie: I would drive and whenever possible would let off the gas and let inertia take over... however I've only been getting 17miles per gallon! Is this right? EPA said 24 city... and I know its off by some 10-15% because of old measuring standards... and I know that Irvine is somewat hilly... but still 17mpg only? Is there something wrong wit my IS? Is it still in "Break in"? or am I just unlucky? Thanx for any help!

Also, I did one fuel up where I rev it a lot to 4k-5k whenever possible. and leave ECT Power on... and I got 16mpg from that... which was expected but the 17mpg is when I drive VERY conservatively.

My 350 got 15 mpg, winter and city only driving when I first got it, it has climbed over time and now with 6K miles, and 10 months old, it is up to 20mpg city only driving, and I park and start my car alot, typically 6 times in the about 14 miles I drive on a typical day. If I jump on the highway right after I fill up I can pull 31mpg if I take it easy and run for max gas miles. I would say give it 7-10K miles and see what happens, I'll bet it loosens up.

  2. Just curious if anybody here has special ordered their car from Lexus and if so, how long did it take to deliver? The Jax Lexus dealer told me around 4 months though it could be as little as 90 days. They charge $2k as a deposit. Anyway, I really want the sport package with obsidian/cashmere, ML, and nav. My research so far has led me to believe that this combo will only be available by special order. I've also been told you can only special order 08's now. Anyway, any info or opinions would be appreciated!

I would not do it again, my dealer told me 6-8 weeks, and after 10 weeks my car was not even on the build list, which ment it was at least 8 more weeks out, plus shipping... I finally gave up and canceled my special and picked one that was on a ship headed for the US, it still took almost 3 more weeks to show. On the plus side they took a check for 2K from me but never cashed it. Good luck.

  3. If I were you I would check out kelly blue book for values. But my advise would be pick the one you like the best, why would you want to drive a car for the next 3-5 years that you did not like as well because you were worried about what might happen years from now.

  4. I'm curious who is taking on who out there. Me: here you go.

02 Grand Prix..... Won, but got wacked off the line, had him by 2 car legnths by 80

Honda shadow motorcycle.... Won but only because I got him off the line, otherwise dead even

Shelby GT500.... Got wacked, but worth it. :chairshot:

Trying to get my budy wih a 01 Corvette to race me, so far he does not want any part of me, too much face to lose if I win. I thought there was no point untill mr. Grand Prix raced him and lost by about what I beat him by.

  5. I have an 06 IS350. mp3s burned to any type of DVD will not play in the ML system. only mp3s burned to at CD-R will play in the ML system. My sales guy told me that mp3s would play on DVDs but he had no idea what he was talking about. the convenience factor would have been huge though...

I have an 07, with ML, and that was one of the first things I tried, Nope it wants to see the DVD as a DVD and look for a movie. I was bummed because I had my whole collection on one DVD, but had to burn then on CD-R's, Your stuck with only aobut 150 songs per disk I'm afraid.

  6. going around a good curve should provide for full turnage from the wheel. also this depends on speed, it doesnt work under 25 miles per hour. so dont sit in your garage and turn the wheel.

Also, I noticed my right light didn't have the range of motion that my left light did. When I took my car in for the 5k service, the technician told me that the left light turns 15 degrees, while the right light only turns 5 degrees.

I have no idea why this would be limited on the right side (perhaps a safety/blinding issue related to this). Maybe he was just feeding me something so I'd quit asking. Seems to me that 5 degrees would be hardly noticable. Maybe he just quoted incorrect angles.

The owners manual says its only 5 degrees to the left so you dont blind oncoming trafic

  7. if you really want to get 15-20 plus HP for your 350, just install a 35 shots of NOX instead of spending 1,500+ on header, intake and exhaust.

That scares me a bit, my uncle put NOS on his car and he started shreading his supercharger belts, and ended up taking it off. It was even the kit recommended for his car by NOS.

  8. lol yeah intake gives you like 3hp and maybe if you change the filter, lol a total of 5 hp. You cant really make any significant changes without doing some big things to the car.

Yea, not really looking for alot, just something to keep it interesting, maybe next summer or something.

P.S. I just raced a shelby GT500, man that thing runs good, of cource it better it has just over 500 horse, he obviously beat me but he had to work alot harder than he thought origionally (he lit the back end up going into second to stay ahead). Fun, that is why I bought the car!!! to have FUN

  9. Has anyone had any luck getting more HP out of their 350?, I'm thinking about trying to squeeze another 15 or 20 horse out of it, but dont want to shoot in the dark. I would appreciate any thoughts, or better yet some advise that has worked.

    Thanks

I would think that if you put a cold air intake (i think injen makes one for the IS 250/350) and/or a cat-back you could get somewhere between 10-20 horsepower (if you do both, more obviously). I haven't seen any dynos for this car specifically though, so I'm not sure. I'm new to the forum, but you might want to try searching for intakes/exhaust/modifications and see what you find.

I just read a little bit about it, and it sounds interesting, the people who want to sell it to you say 19HP gain for the intake alone, seems high to me for just changing the intake. This seems to be backed up by some of the people who have done it, they seem to think more in the 5 HP range, but if you couple this with exhaust it sound like you are starting to get somewhere.

  10. Hey Guys,

Found this link to the new IS350 commercial were an IS is dropper from a helicopter and another one beats it to the ground, if you are interested, here's the link:

    http://www.macguff.com/?j=showjob&id=79

I saw it on the SB. The math was hard to follow, and I was left with an impression of "So what?". I thought the Toyota Tundra truck ads worked better. Here's how you go, how you stop, and how low end torque helps you pull.

I thought it was cool, but I have a degree in Physics....

  11. :( As soon as it gets below zero celsius, I do not find the heating on ther drivers side works all that well. Even after 30 minutes of driving I do not feel much hot air blowing at my feet. I tried all temperature and control settings. Thank goodness for the heated seats.

First verify that you have enough antifreeze in your system, that could cause poor heating performance. It has been cold in denver latley, several days in a row between 0 and 15 below zero at my house in the morning, 10 minutes warm up and mine is warm for the 3.5 mile drive to work. I put the temp to HI and the fan to high. Although I have noticed that it does not seem to do quite as well as my old honda did with getting the heater nice and hot.

  12. The problem is you wasted your money and bought a Lexus instead of a Subaru. If you wanted a car that goes in the snow, you made the wrong choice. All AWD is not created equal...you found that out the hard way.

Wife has an 07 IS250. I have an 07 Subaru Legacy 2.5i Ltd. Her car is like 10K more than mine. Guess which one gets around in the snow better...WAY better. No, I dont have the Lexus image, luxury, etc. But when it snows....it goes. Subaru has the AWD down and has been doing AWD longer and better. 50/50, symmetrical AWD. It works incredibly better than the Lexus....

Now I'll wait for the Lexus crowd to pile on....whatever....I'll seem them stuck in the snow as I drive by...I'll stop and help if I'm able.

My wifes 2002 outback LL Bean goes in the snow, and I dont mean kind of, the only thing that stops it is getting high centered, so if that was the only reason to buy I would agree with you. However, everything else in my 350 is nicer and in some cases WAY nicer, as with everything it just depends on what you are looking for. Our Subaru is a wonderful do everyging family car, My 350 well, not so much on the family car, but boy is it fun to drive :)

  13. What would you guys do? I've got about 10K to put down and I'd like to not spend more then 35K total. I plan to finance. Is it possible to get a IS350 with one of the packages for that price? I currently own an 04 Accord that does 240hp, so I'd really like to bump it up to the IS350. I feel like the 250 will feel slower then my Accord. Any thoughts?

I like the toys, I would be disapointed with a bare bones model of the IS350 if you could even find one for that price, if you could go to something like 38 or 39 you might be able to get something reasonable in the 350, but if you are hard on the 35 #, I would stick with a 250.

Maybe you should hang on the few months it would take to save the extra $$'s and get a 350, my guess is that the 250 will feel slow compared to your accord as you are thinking.

  14. I hate to say it but be prepared for a brutal wait, even though the dealer might tell you otherwise, I waited the 6 weeks for my special I was told it would take and it was not even on the build list yet, which means it is more than 6-8 weeks away. I finally gave up and got something already built and on a boat, and it still took 5 weeks for it to show up.

Plus I think your dealer is ripping you off, you should not be paying MSRP + for a special.

I want to special order an:

    '07 IS 350

    Luxury Plus Package 18"

    Pre-Collision / Dynamic Radar Cruise

    Ground Effects Kit

    Navigation / Mark Levinson

    Rear Spoiler

    Intuitive Parking Assist

    Preferred Accessory Package

I live in Orange County, CA and the dealership (Lexus of Valencia) told me $55,XXX after TTL. After some shopping, I found deals of over $4k less than their offer. I called them back and yelled at them that other dealers were able to offer a completely different price. Valencia said they cannot offer discounts on special orders which I think is complete BS. After a few phone conversations, they finally gave me a price of $51,800 OTD and that the car is $49,XXX MSRP. If they can't offer discounts how is it that the price came down about $4k? I hate the fact they threw such a high figure at me to begin with and lied about discounts on special orders. What do you guys think of this deal? Is this still a rip-off price or what? I can't tell anymore after being mislead by other dealers such as *cough* Lexus of Las Vegas *cough*. Feedback much appreciated.

  15. I am wondering if anyone has purchased a roof rack for their IS250 AWD car.

I know Lexus sells one but am looking for suggestions on alternatives that might fit?

(Primarily used for Skiing, but would like it to double as a bike rack if possible)

Go with yakima or Thule, I've have had Thule in the past with no problems.

  16. All,

I'm looking to order an '07 IS 250 RWD ... with the premium package and the NAVI ... just wondering, is there ANY package that folks have on their 250/350 that they could NOT live without?? Anything they highly recommend someone get, if money was not an option?

    Thanks,

    Alex

Get evrything you can, I did. I love all of the toys, the only thing I'm missing is the adaptive cruise and parking assist, some things are just flat not available or have a realllllly long wait, I even like the rear sun shade, its kind of goofy but.... gimmie the buttons.

  17. I want to make a custom Lexus-like designed knob for my car. Whalen makes these and he said if I get him the dimensions of the shaft and such he would make one for my car.

    http://www.whalenshiftmachine.com/home.htm

Anyone have this info so I don't have to try and measure it correctly? BTW the cost will be approx $100 + design. I think a good deeply cut Lexus logo will look better then the stock knob on my car.

Thoes Knobs look pretty good, for what it's worth I think that is a good price for a custom knob, I do most of the quoting for my machine shop and I would not touch that project for that price (unless I specilized in it) which they obviously do. Sorry no info on the shaft/thread size though. Good luck

  18. DO u guys have 06 IS. Cause i just bought mine a few weeks ago n they told me they dont put ML systems in the IS. They did for special orders last year but not no more.

My 07 IS350 has ML, no issues what so ever getting it.

Did u special order it? or did u have it added on to car with sale?

I found one comming off of the ship already made, I wanted one with Navi, Just so happened to have ML (which I love by the way) and my dealer only had some striped out one on the floor so I had to hold one and wait the 3 or 4 weeks for it to work it's way from portland to denver. So I waited for mine but it was not a special order, by the way I picked mine up Dec. 18th.

  19. Thanks for the info. Sometimes it's just hard to find specific topics in the 350 page manual. I haven't been caught in a snowstorm lately, so I haven't taken the time to read the whole thing. ;)

    larry

Never Fear, I have the perfect solution, place the manual by your throne as you are reveling in your gradure pick up the manual and before you know it you will have read the whole thing ( I would recommend doing this over several sittings though) ... Sorry for being a little off topic, but I could not resist

  20. Iv'e got a 2006 IS350 and have noticed that when traveling on a "not perfectly smooth" freeway, my dash starts to make creaking sounds like pastics that aren't secured tightly. It seems to be coming from right above my two front air vents in the center of the dash. It is very annoying.

Has anyone else experienced this? I know it's still under warranty but I am hesitant in taking it in for fear of making the problem worse. Can they even fix something like this?

    Thanks.

I noticed my 350 creaking in the dash right over the navi / upper center vents, car has 59 miles on it, but I was on my way back to the dealer for snowtires when I noticed it. I complained right away and they took the dash apart that day, and wrapped the assembly with felt to stop the "plastic on plastic noise" so far so good

  21. My dealer calls me today and tells me that my IS350 is in and when do i want to pick it up?

since it was delayed for a week by the denver blizzard, and another snowstorm is coming this weekend, i say how about tonight or tomorrow. he says fine, and i try calling my wife to tell her to be home to drive me over to the dealer in the evening( this will be an extra car, no trade).

20 min later the dealer calls me again to tell me that the was told by the prep people that the car was damaged during digging around the car the other day. he says that it's some damage on the hood that will need some paint work. he asks if i want the car.

I declined, and now i have to go through the whole process again.

Hopefully this time they will come up with my first choice color SGM.

    any thoughts?

is this a lowball ploy, with someone else coming n with a higher bid than me, or does this sound legit or what?

    :censored::censored::censored::censored:

That blows, and not like a blizzard, I believe you are using stevenson lexus correct?, I just took delivery of mine last wednesday, from the stevenson fredrick (I believe we had really close to the same deal) and mine was in good shape and they gave me no static about the price they just wrote it up and delivered it, actually with out all of the needed paperwork which I went back last night and signed. My initial thought would be thay are telling you the truth. I would wait and get another one.

For what it's worth I really like mine so far.

Good luck let us know what you decide.
