  1. 1995 LS400 original owner with 80K miles on it. The car started making grinding noise while driving. I jacked up the car from behind, and put it in drive. The rear driver side wheel does not spin when I put it in drive and press on the gas. Any input before i order left rear axle and open it up?

  2. Check with stores that sell fabrics and leathers or furniture repair materials. Automotive stores usually don't sell hogring pliers because almost nobody but the most adventurous will attempt auto interior repair, but many people do home furniture building and repairs. Check army surplus stores. Some Cabelas stores may have them. Also check Home Depot and other home improvement stores.

If you still can't find pliers there, look to see if there is a snap-on or matco tool distributor in your area. If they're not listed in your phone book, ask anyone in the service department of your closest auto shop or dealership if they have a phone number for their tool supplier. Those guys are usually mobile and travel from shop to shop. Last resort would be to either order them over the internet or make your own from an old set of pliers.

How much do they cjarge to reupholster them? I have the seats out already. It looks like a lot of hog rings to put!!!!!!!

  3. Thanks for the reply. I talked to the insurance adjuster and she said they would give me roughly the NADA retail average if the car is totaled. That is a lil more than 11 grand when I looked it up yesterday. That's pretty good for a car I bought 3 months ago for $8,800. I'm starting to hope it is writen off but I just don't know if the repair cost would be enough to make them total it. They would probably even try to reshape the frame if it's bent.

They will not repair the frame. I bet you they will total it. Also be prepared to haggle for the amount.

  4. I have driven 235 miles and im at a little less then a qtr tank!!

So just to make sure, the 95 ls400 has a 25 gallon tank? Ive had all the fluids changed/filters/plugs(not wires/distributor cap. I just moved to a small town(ashland) where I drive around 5 miles a day if that. Once a week, I hit the freeway. Dont drive with the ac on. I drive like a granny but there is a alot of stop and go here. I know that stop and go kills the miles but doing the calculation gives me like 10-12 miles a gallon. Suggestions? I will be driving back to seattle on turkey day which is 500 miles from here and im curious to see my mileage on a long trip.

    Thanks in advance

    1995 ls400 70k miles

The best way to find out the mileage is fill the tank up, drive for 200 miles and fill it up again. Once you do that you will find that your car gives around 18-20 mpg, which is ok for a V8.

  5. I just got a 95 LS400 from my dad. The car has only 40K( yes) miles on it. He kept it in an airconditioned garage in california and drove very little. The car still looks brand new. I changed the spark plugs(NGK iridium), air filter, oil and filter, differential oil. Everything that I changed looked new!!!.

I put a bosch oil filter, which after reading this forum, I assume is not a good idea.

Can somebody give me a toyota part number so that I can get some from the local toyata dealer?
