I experienced this problem, dealer replaced the A/C vent filter. Seemed to have helped but I did detect a slight occurance since.

there's an outfit called Hidden Hitch that is all over it. They say they will have one out this month (August). I had one for my previous LX470 and loved it. It is more attractive than the usual hitch frame (the tubes are round verses square) and it has more mass which looks beefier, yet tastefully done. Add a dot com to the name and check it out.

for the record, I have the same thump. I have not reported it yet but will the next time I take it into the dealer. 5,000 miles.
