  1. yes you may. I have 4 x 235 40r 18s all around. No issues there. But it does slow your car down (heaps!) and I found it does increase fuel consumption a tad bit.

    Hello everyone,

Newbie here. My finace has an IS-250 and needs new tires. She hardly drives the car so performance isnt really an issue as long as its safe. Has anyone used 4 tires of the same size all the way around? The fronts are 8" and the backs are 8.5". So could I just slap 235 40 R 18s on all four wheels? Or might that cause a seal problem when the tires from the back went to the front?

The purpose of the question is to get a set of 4 matching tires which could be rotated, extending tire life.

Thanks in advance for your help, this marriage business is getting expensive.

Oh yeah, its an 07 RWD with the 18" wheels

  2. Well there is a silicone lubricant that you can use to reduce the noise.

The noise is caused by the rubber of the roof rubbing against the panel.

If you apply lub on the rubber this will mute the sound………..( for 2 weeks at least)

Then you have to do it again =(

I am trying to find DRY LUB , apparently this doesn’t dry up.

    :cries:

  3. Yes its nice and warm down under at the moment

I think the brand of the cleaner is Shine and Wax, wasnt an expensive brand at all.......

Down here, lexus dont sell the 17" and 18" by themselves and they certainly dont offer the the option to upgrade. I got the base model which are 16" 205/45 stock....and trust me they look like skinny whimpy wheels.

  4. OK I thought Lexus was meant to be quality……… maybe I had one too many beers

Why would anyone be afraid of complaining….. I did last time and I got my whole bumper replaced and repainted on this damage :whistles: see link below:

    http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...his+be+a+defect

Now I have a rattling noise on my left side door……as well as a creaking noise from the moon roof……….. woo the list grows.

I have only done 3k on the car!

*bleep* when I hit my first service I am getting them fixed.

I did however buy the dealer an expensive bottle of red as a token of appreciation when I first bought the car..... B) .....strategic!

BTW - Anyone know of how to take apart the door?

    :P

  5. The liner is torn? That's the part you have to take loose to change foglight bulbs, I think.

Didnt change the fog lights yet.... any ideas what could have cause it? like bumpy rides? And more importantly is it costly to fix =(

I tried to unscrew the screws but they just keep turning and making a click sound. I stopped there for fear of doing more damage.

  6. Guys (& possible ladies),

For all of us who love our cars, seeing this is not a pretty sight :cries:

At first sight, I thought it was yet another noob that backed in to me.

However, I see no scratches nor dents nor any indications i've been hit.

And no I have not been ramming into other ppl :P

I would like to think this is a defect (just so i can pay those lexus ppl a visit)

Anyone know what would likely cause this?

    Rgds

  7. Many ppl have said that Xenon depot is a good place to get them.

I have spoken to them and they leave me the impression that quality is good and the technitians know their stuff.

Having said that, I have however decided to go with a kit from www.xtralights.com because they offer a 2 year warranty as opposed to one. Also the kit is made in Japan and if you know Japanese culture well, these guys pride themselves on quality

  8. How about this....this is what I have been told by xtralights.... I cant see how a chip in the ballast installed to trick the on board computer into not displaying a warning message, is needed for it to turn on!

    >>>>>>>

It just won't turn on if you do not use the special ballasts. Because we

sold to couple customers and they told us it must have those special

    ballasts.

Well if I am to pay an extra $80, please give me more info why wont it work

    properly.

Will there be a warning sign that says "Please replace headlight?"

  9. Thanks guys for your help .

I think it should work fine as well - There is nothing in the manual that says a warning message will be displayed for low/high beam failure.

I am asking because xtralights are trying to sell me the more expensive version which has the on-board computer warning display disable function.

They say that after you upgraded your original halogen lights with our HID Xenon lights, the on-board computer detects that there are aftermarket modifications to the original lights thus displays this warning message.

Now is that pure BS or are they trying to make me pay more for the kit. ? :chairshot:

    Cheers

  10. RX- yea

Here is an example to turn off the seat belt warning:

    1. turn the key to the ON position (press Start 2 times), foot off the brake

    2. cycle the odometer with the trip reset button until the ODO is displayed (not trip A or B )

    3. turn the ignition to the LOCK (OFF) position

    4. unbuckle the driver's seatbelt if it was buckled.

    5. turn the key to the ON position (Press Start 2 times). when the dash lights have come on, press and hold the trip reset button and count a slow 12 seconds. (editor's note, hold it more like 30 sec)

    6. while still holding the trip reset button, buckle the driver's side seatbelt.

    7. the odometer display should read "b ON" or "b OFF". toggle the beep OFF with the trip reset.

    8. the process should be completed when you unbuckle or turn the key off

  11. Greetings All,

Took delivery of the vehicle over da week and still figuring out the vehicle. =)

Does anyone know of a way to turn off the annoying door ajar warning. I cant see the purpose of it beeping once you turned the engine off and are about to leave the vehicle.

Also, if anyone also knows of other customizations available, please post!

The only one I know so far is the seatbelt alarm warning – which can be turned off…

    Otherwise – love the car!
