  1. Wow Work wheels are expensive -.0 Lol I am just getting new wheels to replace my bent stock ones not planning to go bankrupt in the process ;p

Also I wanted wheels noticeably lighter than the stock 26lb sport design wheels. Realizing how lighter wheels tend to cost alot more, it was really hard for me to find lightweight wheels at low enough prices that still looked good to me.

  2. Hey guys im in the process of getting new wheels for my 03' Black onyx IS300. I have narrowed my selection down to 3 wheels. Which one do you guys like the best? Your opinions are much appreciated. I have photoshops of the enkei evo5 and falken hanabi's, but not the ace radiums. I will be getting them in 18 inches.

    Ace Radium 22.5 lbs

  3. Sorry, you did put 18x7.5 at the top of your post. Yes that is how wide the rims are. Those should be fine. You won't have any rubbing issues, even with the drop. When they come in and you get them on, you'll have to post your set up with pics in our Wheel set up thread at the top of the forum. :)

Haha. I sure will and thanks for replying to my post.

  4. Hey guys, I was going to be purchasing motegi sx5 18x7.5 wheels for my 2003black is300. here is a pic of the wheels.motegiracing_sx5_bml_ci3_l.jpg

I am wondering whats the largest tire size I can put on my car w/o having any rubbing problems. I am currently thinking about doing 235/40/18 all the way around. After I intall my new tire and wheel package on my car I am going to drop my car about 1 to 1.5 inches. So I wanted to take that into consideration as well. Any advice would be great.

  5. Hey, I wanted to start a topic on how many dings you guys have on your cars due to damages incurred by disrespectful, mindless people. These are probably the most frustrating things that can happen to your car, especially when you care alot about it and the fact that it costs rediculous amounts of money to fix dem. :cries:

    I have a total of 11 dings.:angry::censored: :chairshot: :censored:

  6. Hey guys before I get to the main point, here is a little background on my car. My car is a lease and ever since I have gotten this car I have taken it to the lexus dealership for its periodic maintenance's. As you all know it is very expensive. Since my car was leased for four years I did not know what I was gonna do witht the car when my lease matured so I always took it to the lexus dealership for maintenance just in case If I ever planned to give the car back to them and I didnt want my lease to be void if I took it to a "Nonlexus" place and they screwed up my car.

WEll it turns out after four years since I am so happy with my car and its in perfect condiditon, I will be keeping it for myself. Since my car is no longer leashed to my lexus dealership, this brings up the problem of should I still go to lexus for my 30,000 mile maintenance which will be very very expensive or should I take it to "nonlexus" place with a very good reputation where it will be much less? (right?)

Orrrrr, should I do it myself? Now you guys should know I am a novice when it comes to car maintenance since I have always taken my car to the dealership for maintenance. Here is the list from the lexus manual of what is covered under the 30,000 maintenance.

-replace air filter I know I can do this

-replace brake fluid I know where the container is but how do I remove the old brake fluid?

-replace engine coolant I know where this is too, but how do I remove old engine coolant?

-replace engine oil and filter I know how to replace the filter, but how to remove old engine oil?

-retorque drive shaft flange boots Obviously I cant do this, I mean I have a torque wrench for my wheels, but I am assuming its not the same thing...I would have to get this done at a place

-rotate tires Dont have to do this b/c I had new tires installed and its only been like 1000 miles on them.

-road test vehicle ...this is irrelevant I road test whenever I drive my car...

    -inspect the following:

__ball joints and dust covers seems unnecessary right? I dont notice anything unusual

__body I can do this.. I am not blind...

__brake lines and hoses can not do this, unnecesasary? get done at a place?

__bake linings/drums and brake pads/discs not necessary, not time to change brakes, no noises.

__differential oil in the manual is says only replace if car is used for towing a trailer or as a camper, which its not..

__drive shaft boots can not do this, get done at a place?

__exhaust pipes and mountings unncessary, im not blind..

__fuel line, connections, bands, vaper vent sys. hoses can not do, unnecessary?, get done at a place?

__fuel tank cap gasket not blind...

__rack and pinion assembly unnecessary? ge tdone at place?

__steering linkage and boots nnncessary? get done at place?

__transmission fluid get done at place? or does it need inspecting, no engine problems, IF I can check it myself how would I go about doing that and what do I look for if it needs replacing.

-inspect nuts and bolts on chassis and body unnecessary.

What do you guys think should I do? Should I #1 just go to lexus dealership and get it done, or #2 take it to a "nonLexus" place to get it done, or #3 do all the things that I can do and ignore all the unnecessaries and anything that is important that I can not do myself get it done at a place, b/c I enjoy getting my hands dirty and doing stuff myself.

Your opinions would be much appreciated!

  7. I own a 2003 lexus Is300, and I was interested in getting satellite radio. I am not planning to have it installed professionally since it is after market I just want to buy one that can be plugged in and used. I am new to this area of technologically so I wanted soem insight from any other is300 owners with satellite radio. I want to know how satellite radio is installed on an IS300.

    Thanks.

  8. Hey guys I own a 2003 is300 and starting about month ago the cd player is starting to act strange. When a CD track is playing and its over, it is supposed to move on to the next track. Lets say its on song #01 and then it should go to song #02, instead it will jump randomly to some other track #XX. It stays on the same cd but it just has these random spasm moments where it skips whole bunch of songs. I have never changed the battery or been it by lightning so I didnt induce any electrical problems. Also It is not induced by rough terrain b/c it happens even when I am at a full stop. I was wondering if any other IS owners have experienced this problem and what they have done about it and what do you guys suggest I do about it before takign it to the lexus dealership to get looked at, which involves taking things apart and that is painful for me to experience.

  9. Ok I have had my 2003 is300 for exactly 3 years now and I finally got my first winshield rock chip on the front windshield!!! I was histerical staring at it the whole time driving from houston to austin (3 hour drive) :( . Well its about half an inch in diameter and it looks like a half moon with the rock chip at the center. I was kind of calm b/c my bro had a rock chip on his windshield and it was repaired and its like impossible to see. So I got to a winshield repair specialist who is supposedly "GOOD" at his job and after he is done the freaking rock chip is still clearly visible and if not worse b/c now there is a drill hole. :****( So I got really mad and I was like hello you stopped it from cracking any further but it still looks ugly as hell and there like oh well. The thing is when the rockchip hit my windshield it took the piece of glass that it broke with it so there is a whole in my glass and they did nothing to fill it up and nothing was done cosmetically.

So what I want to know is although he prevented the cracks in the glass from getting larger by injecting the resin the rock chip "half moon" design is still clearly visible and there is a gaping hole in the glass. So Should I still be able to see this after the work is done? Am I being cheated? Is there no way of making that ugly rock chip" half moon" from almost disappearing? And is it still possible to take it to someone "better" to do the job right?

    Thanks in advance!

A good glass guy could have repaired that chip to the point where you'd have a hard time finding the spot where the chip was to begin with.

My friend's windshield had a bunch of chip marks and some were really deep like you described yours.

He got it repaired where we work and I checked it out when the guy was done.

You HAVE to know where the chip was, and you have to look at just the right angle to see where the chip was.

The guy did an awesome job.

You're glass guy did a lousy job and I'd ask for him to right his wrong.

Thanks for responding but I dont want to go back to that guy b/c if he did a lousy job the first time he will make worse if I go back. I am going to a diff. place to get it done.

Also I am filing a claim through my check card to deny payment to the first place. Do you know if they will try and reposses my car ? B/c their policy is if you dont pay they will reposses your car but if you are doing a claim do they have the right to? Sorry had to ask this question b/c I am scared but I really want to teach them a lesson. :(

  10. LOL... Thanks.

Although this wasn't meant to be a color deciding post... here we go anyway. ;)

I'm set on one of 4 colors

    Crystal White:

I own a White Jeep and a White Honda Accord - Both look lousy if not constantly maintained and cleaned. They look awesome when nicely cared for.

Since I plan on constantly rubbing, touching and talking dirty to my new IS, I'm not afraid of getting a color which requires a little extra maintenance.

    Matador Red:

My 94 Ford SHO was red and it looked fantastic at night.

I've also seen the IS in red in person, and it looks really nice.

    Smokey Granite Mica:

This was my first color choice when I first saw the IS and was also the color of my testdrive model.

Looked really nice, but I noticed that it shows tiny little hairline scratches really easily... and let's face it, scratches happen

    Breakwater Blue:

Have not yet seen it in person but this color seems less typical and really stands out.

The car, in photos anyway, looks great in this color.

The only problem is that the wife feels this color is sorta feminine.

She says it should've been called Brokeback Mountain Blue.

I also would like to see the Blue Onyx in person before deciding as well.

    Like I said, it's a hard decision for me.

Hmmmm If I were in your sandals at the moment I would go with Matador red b/c its the best sports car color and it would look so hot with a beige interior(black interior is boring b/c there is no contrast and it shows alot of dust and hair dandruff). And the names got latin flava and you know latin ladies are hot so your car would be like a latin hot sexy mama. :)

Good luck on your color choice and you picked the right car. Oh btw I have to tel lyou this b/c it bothers me, when I got to the manual car wash places ppl spray the water gun like 1 inch away from the surface of the paint which is really BAD. I mean I have accidentally sprayed my hand at full blast at the distance one and it freakin hurts like hell imagine what it does to the paint. Keep like a 2 feet distance from you car. Thats my 2 cents. ;p

  11. I've been preparing for a new car purchase for the past few months.

As I always do before making a major decision, I do a lot of research.

I have been very interested in 3 very different cars, for various reasons.

    Lexus IS 250 AWD

    Chrysler 300C

    Acura TL

I have joined various forums to watch what owners are saying.

The Acuras hare having issues with thin paint, auto transmission slippage, rattles and noises and I hate that they only offer XM (This is not to start a XM vs Sirius debate, just my opinion)

The Chrysler 300C also has transmission problems, caused by AC Condensation getting into the tranny fluid. This was supposedly fixed through a Tech Bulletin, but who knows.

I hear bad things about Chrysler's Nav system.

And I get an uneasy feeling when I see a car company drop from a 7 Yr to a 3 Yr Warranty.

Why dont they just come right out and say their cars are undependable?

I have a Jeep Grand Cherokee now and this is my first and last Chrysler product.

I joined this forum in the beginning of March and all I see are happy Lexus owners.

    No major issues.

Nobody stating that this will be their last Lexus.

Just happy people who love their cars.

I can't wait to join the family when I get into my new 07 IS.

Thank You to all of the Lexus owners and fans who make this forum what it is.

It's making my decision a very easy one.

Except for choosing a color!

-I can help you with the color choice its pretty simple dont get silver b/c its boring and everyone has it.

-Get black b/c it makes every car look good especially the IS :) BUT if you dont like cleaning your car than dont even think twice about black b/c noncar carers dont deserve this beautiful color

-If you like to clean your car but your everyday life schedule gets in the way than get red b/c it looks HOT on the IS and does not require that much maintanence when compared to black

-If your lazy and dont like washing for weeks than get white b/c its classy and easy to maintain. And your car stays coolest with white paint b/c white does not absorb alot of radiation from the sun unlike the other colors. :P

  13. Hey good to see I am not the only one. Well I figured out a way to get rid of that crackling sound when the moonroof slide is closed. First remove that trim panel around the sides(its pretty easy it comes right off) then make sure the moon roof slide is closed, push up at the back of the slide so u can see the edge of it and take some tape(heave duty tape) overlap same size pieces of tape several times to make it thick and then apply it to the edge of the slider(at the center, the tape should be large enough to overlap on both sides of the slider about an inch long.). Now you can put the trim back on and TATAAAAA the annoying crackling sound is gone. As for the popping sound u get when the slider is slid back and the moonroof is exposed I have no idea how to stop that but it does not really bother me. I hope u were talking about the crackling noise not the latter b/c I only know the solution for the first thing. 8(

Let me know if it works for you!

  14. Ya that sound about right. My lexus Is300 17' tires maximum life is 20,000 miles so anything less than that for 18' is correct. My brothers bmw has 18'wheels and there maximum life is around 15,000 miles too. So ya maybe you should think about getting another car or if they offer 16 inch rims or something ;p. Or you can get lexus quality and just get new tires every 4 or 5 months. ;)

  15. Hey guys almost 2 years ago the back of my Is300 was hit by another car going like 5 miles per hr. Ofcourse there was no damage but there was alot of paint damage done. It was the result of the other cars front license plate. So I had my back bumper repainted eventuallya nd everything was fine, but for some reason there remained this weird crease on the bottom part of the bumper about 4 inches left of where the exhaust is. Up close it doesnt look like anything but if you look at it from like 4 feet and farther back it becomes obvious. The reason I say weird is b/c there is nohting up close but when u step back u see like this line extending like 2 inches downwards like the fender is bent in. So I was really annoyed and I only noticed it 2 months after I had it repainted when I was waxing. It really bothered me but I didnt want to spend to much money so I left it alone for a year by hiding it with a decal sticker. So few days back the paint somewhere else on the bumper started to crack so I got it repainted at a better place hopefully it would fix the little fender crease problem at the same time. Well the repaint job was beautiful much better than the first place I had it done, but the crease is still there....I am starting to think its a dent and it needs to be removed with a paintless dent remover. Can you use PDR on the IS300 back bumper? and is it possible during the process of using PDR that the paint will be damaged in the process?

    Thank you.
