  1. My 94 LS has been in storage for about two months because of our wonderful Colorado weather this year. I drove it yesterday for the first time and two problems showed up. First the trac control will not ingage. I push the switch and nothing happens. Also, the check engine light is coming on. About two weeks ago it needed to be moved and the battery was to low to start the car so it needed to be charged. Any thoughts on what might be the problem(s). For winter drivng I really need the Trac Control.

    Thanks in advance, Ralph

When the check engine light, probably an emission sys, the traction control automatically shuts down.

  2. I had the same problem with my 92 SC400. Finally decided to tke to dealer, but gave following one last shot.

Pulled fuse for Trac, left it out for a week. Drove the car as normal, TRAC light on all of the time. Put fuse back in, no light, drove abot a mile light came back on. Next day while driving I noticed the light was NOT on, that was about a month ago. Light is still not on.

I know the 'system' is working because,

The light blinks when I lose traction, just as the manual says. I have seen it blink/flash when going over slippery railroad crossing, and other such things.

    Worth a shot

I did a similar thing and mine went off for almost a year, then back on. Again, Traction control is identifying a problem with a system. Can't figure out what it is finding. Code is 54 and 43.

  3. I have a '93 sc300, after start up, a few miles down the road, the TRAC light comes on in the Tachometer. No other lights are on, and it even comes on with the traction control off. I notice nothing different in the way the car rides or sounds. The owners manual says to take it to the dealer,,,, no way! Ive heard that they just disable the light and charge you a grand.

Does anyone know why this light comes on? Thanks for any help.

Many of us are having the same problem. I "fixed" mine for a year or so by disconnecting the ABS and TRAC computers. I have the problem again and am trying to fix it following Forum advice by disconnecting the battery for a few days. I also think that cleaning the ABS and TRAC sensors in the wheels might be the problem. I will try that next if my fix doesn't work.

  4. I have a '93 sc300,, after I start the engine, about 15 seconds,, there is a loud chirp. Then when I start to drive, it does it again, then goes away. A little bit down the road, the "TRAC" light comes on. The car is running fine besides the noise and the trac light. There are no other warning lights,, this even happens when I turn the traction control off. I am thinking maybe something with the abs,, but I am not sure.

Is there another place to service the abs besides the brake res.?

Has anyone ever experienced anything like this??

    Thanks for any help.

I am currently having the same problem. It started about 3 years ago. Then, I pulled my TCU and ABS computers, then when I put my units back in, the problem went away for about a year. It started again. I will try to disconnect the battery for awhile and see what that does. Anyone have any advice?

  5. TRAC light is constantly lit on my 92 SC400; if there is any easy fix, please post.

I have the same problem with my 95 SC300. Have tried many fixes over the last 3 years....nothing seems to work for very long. If I immediately spin the wheels (engage the trac system) shortly after startup....before it shuts down, sometimes it will remail "fixed" for a few days.

  6. Bought 1995 SC 300 new in March 1994. Now have 142000 on it. Love it! I have a problem that is driving me and my mechanic crazy. For the last three years have been dealing with an issue in my Trac Control system....excessive pumping is the code and the conditon. Have replaced and worked on many components and still the problem persists. I try every time I drive it to "outsmart" it so that it doesn't malfunction. It starts pumping every 20 seconds or so, for just a few seconds, then shuts down the TRAC system (lite goes on and the TRAC no longer works). If I immediately spin the tires before the system shuts down, then we are okay for a day, hour, week, month...whatever...once went a year....then it comes back. We recently replaced the brake fluid (it appeared to have never been done), then that got the problem going again after quite some time of no malfunction. Replaced the Traction control computer, put in another ABS computer to test that issue...replaced the pump that was excessively pumping....all to no avail. ANYONE KNOW THE SOLUTION?
