  1. When the check engine light, probably an emission sys, the traction control automatically shuts down.
  2. Be Careful...they are easy to break when you remove them. I had my mechanic do it and we lost a sensor. Cost me about $200...still, it didn't fix the TRAC lite falure. WE ARE BAFFLED. So, I wouldn't recommend going that route.
  3. I did a similar thing and mine went off for almost a year, then back on. Again, Traction control is identifying a problem with a system. Can't figure out what it is finding. Code is 54 and 43.
  4. Many of us are having the same problem. I "fixed" mine for a year or so by disconnecting the ABS and TRAC computers. I have the problem again and am trying to fix it following Forum advice by disconnecting the battery for a few days. I also think that cleaning the ABS and TRAC sensors in the wheels might be the problem. I will try that next if my fix doesn't work.
  5. I am currently having the same problem. It started about 3 years ago. Then, I pulled my TCU and ABS computers, then when I put my units back in, the problem went away for about a year. It started again. I will try to disconnect the battery for awhile and see what that does. Anyone have any advice? Paul
  6. I have the same problem with my 95 SC300. Have tried many fixes over the last 3 years....nothing seems to work for very long. If I immediately spin the wheels (engage the trac system) shortly after startup....before it shuts down, sometimes it will remail "fixed" for a few days.
  7. Bought 1995 SC 300 new in March 1994. Now have 142000 on it. Love it! I have a problem that is driving me and my mechanic crazy. For the last three years have been dealing with an issue in my Trac Control system....excessive pumping is the code and the conditon. Have replaced and worked on many components and still the problem persists. I try every time I drive it to "outsmart" it so that it doesn't malfunction. It starts pumping every 20 seconds or so, for just a few seconds, then shuts down the TRAC system (lite goes on and the TRAC no longer works). If I immediately spin the tires before the system shuts down, then we are okay for a day, hour, week, month...whatever...once went a year....then it comes back. We recently replaced the brake fluid (it appeared to have never been done), then that got the problem going again after quite some time of no malfunction. Replaced the Traction control computer, put in another ABS computer to test that issue...replaced the pump that was excessively pumping....all to no avail. ANYONE KNOW THE SOLUTION? Paul
