  1. Bought on ebay. OEM. Installed myself. Have to jack up the car and remove rear wheels in order to put on the car. Fronts just barely work if you turn the wheels lock to lock. Holes do not all line up. Need to put them on, mark holes, take them off, make holes and put back on. Took about 2 hours. Bottom bolt was a bear to remove, Finally just used a vice grips. Agree that they are short and almost do not show. Kinda disappointed. Protects more of the car but not enough.
  2. Had a problem back in the late 80's with both my Audi and BMW (Bosch fuel injection). Heads would carbon up. Needed to clean them both about every other year. Finally had an Audi mechanic inform me that he had the same problem but found that the use of Amoco BP gas which contained the Techron additve kept it from happening. Changed over to Amoco gas and also would buy the Techron additive by itself every so often at an auto parts store or Target. Never had another problem. Don't know if it will work as my RX350 has 22,000 on it with no problems but it might be worth a try. So far the SuperAmerica gas has worked for me but old habits die hard. Still fillup every so often at an Amoco BP. Other that, give 'em hell.
  3. Yeah, I was wrong about the brackets. The brackets which came with the replacement panel were used but the Panasonic DIN sleeve had to be drilled out for the placement pins on the brackets and the brackets had to be drilled for a placement screw on each side. Molded in parts of the panel cover had to be snipped away until the DIN sleeve would fit flush. Sounds like your installer found out about the wrong sized "pop out" too late but was able to cover with miscellaneous parts from other installs. Thanks for the info on the amp bypass. Probably what I will need to do. Checked the RCA outputs from the radio itself and I am getting a speaker signal. It's just not getting amplified.
  4. I bought the dash panel you mentioned off of ebay. It is not a bolt on unit as far as DIN aftermarket radios go. The brackets that comes with it just hold the panel in place and have nothing to do with mounting a radio. It's actually a filler panel for use if the customer does not want any radio at all. Had to custom cut the cut out for a DIM mounting. The "pop out" is not the correct size and is not actually a "pop out" at all. Had to cannibalize the brackets from the factory panel and new drill mounting holes. Almost 3 hours of trail & error fitting. Metra 70-8113 harness does not just plug in and work. Radio works but amp does not turn on.
  5. OK, What a mess. Have a standard "Premium" audio system - no ML or Nav. Have a Panasonic Sirius radio from my last vehicle (touch screen turns black and plain when off - nice security) and used it with the AUX IN for my iPod. Worked really well. Was quoted $600 to get Sirius installed by the dealer which would still leave me without a hard wired iPod. Figured I would just do like I did in my last 2 vehicles. Remove the factory HU, install with a Metra harness my own reciever, enjoy till I sell the vehicle and then reinstall the original factory HU. Done this many times in the past. Audis, Chryslers, Acuras - no problems. What's with Lexus. What an inconsiderate mess. No Metra harness listed. No DIN install panels. Reading everything I can on the Forum just makes it worse. Chopping into the factory wiring harness to install relays with a hidden switch - come on - get real. No wiring harness info - spend more money on All-Data to get even more mixed up. Not going to spend $300 for a special converter which lets me use the ridiculous small display on the factory HU to see cyphered portions of whats on my iPod screen. HEY, LEXUS, JUST PUT AN AUX IN PLUG ON THE RADIO. Tried the Metra 70-8113 Toyota harness and the radio works but no sound through the factory amp and speakers. Yes, the blue wires are connected. I have run out of ideas except taking it to an aftermarket install company and begging for help with this. Bought on ebay the really nice and expensive $100 "04-06 LEXUS RX330 RADIO ADAPTOR GPS NAV SATELLITE" bottom replacement panel in order to mount my DIN HU in the car. Took 3 hours of playing around, drilling, snipping and trial & error in order to get this to work. Not set up for a DIN radio slide-in and bolt -in install. Need to drill some new mounting holes and snip off most of the internal bracing on the black cover piece. Size of recessed panel which looks like a "pop out" is not the right size and not a "pop out". Be forewarned - cut carefully, plan ahead. Looks great but what a job - not for the timid. Not intersted in a complete Uber sound system replacement. Just want to hook up an after market radio HU which does what I want and have it play through the factory amp and speakers. Don't think that is too much to expect. 1. Metra 70-8113 harness appears to work. Radio works. All wires hooked up as instructed, RCA's hooked up per instructions and triple checked. 2. No sound at all. Blue/white wire is hooked up. 3. Anyone got an easy solution.
  6. Anyone know if the tow hitches for a 2006 RX-330 will fit without modification? Lexus model, DrawTite or Hidden Hitch brands
