I tried the white lithium grease on my 92 sc400 driver door and it seemed to work for about 2 days. After a few more weeks of ripping the interior panel free of the door, I broke down and bought a new hinge from the dealer. $339. Put the hinge in my trunk until I could devote the time needed to install it. Before that day arrived, the old hinge made a tremendous pop as I opened the door. It has been smooth as butter ever since. So 4 months later the new hinge is on ebay, Lexus dealer wouldnt take it back, and me crossing my fingers that another pop doesnt undo the fix. ;-) The lithium grease is definitely a good idea to try first.

Hey thanks for the tip Lexus082. I just paid msrp at the dealership in Ocean, NJ for the door hinge. I rushed the deal because my inside panel is also giving way due to the resistance of the hinge. The site you mentioned has them at $50 less. So next time Ill check them out first. Just bought the car last month, and thanks to this site saved the cost of sending the car into the shop for the third brake light. The wires were BROKEN in the trunk next to the trunk hinge where I was replacing the struts. 2 places! Best Regards, David 92 sccd 130K
