  1. I currently own a LS400 ('96) with 165k of mostly highway miles. It is in great shape but I drive a lot for my job and have had the car for 5 years. Do I HAVE to change cars?-------no but I just love the LS430s (2002,2003). My dilemma is that my lovely wife, Mrs. TennesseeLexus wants me to look at the GS430 (or GS300) because she thinks since it is a smaller car it will cost a lot less. I am looking at around $28-30K for a LS430 but I know next to nothing about the GS line except that the GS430 (2003 and above) are really fast and more of a sports car than the LS430. I realize this is a LS400/LS430 forum but any feed back would be appreciated---pro or con. I really don’t know what I am going to do. YOU MUST KEEP THE MRS. HAPPY THOUGH. I would be looking at a 2004 and above for the GS430. I am also posting this same message on the GS430 forum. Thanks and happy motor’n.
  2. I will soon be in the market for a '02/03' LS 430. I have a Quartz exterior and Ivory leather interior in my 1996 LS400. I live in Tennessee and I do like the white exterior and tan leather interior. However, will a dark leather interior wear better/worse? I still like a silver/light color for an exterior (doesn't show dirt as well). Comments?, experiences?
  3. Not to doubt you but glass only in the outside mirror for a 1996 LS400 is $250 minimum....that is from www.newlexusparts.com that you recommended. Maybe the glass has changed from the earlier LS models. I guess it's the $250 glass for me. :)
  4. I am a newbie and just love this forum. I have a 96 LS400 and the drivers side mirror now has 4 spots on it that, to me, indicate a failure of the heating element. I have searched online and the Lexus dealerships for pricing(I have a mechanic who can put it on with no problem). My best online price (at www.americanlexusparts.com) is $250 for the mirror glass(I assume all wiring etc) and $379 for the entire driver's side mirror (with correct paint color). The Lexus dealership wanted $381 and $486 (uninstalled). Is the online pricing about the best out there? Anyone else have this trouble with their mirrors? I have 165,000 on my car and it is still going strong.
