  1. I have had my LX450 for about a year and a half. I love this car and everything about it. The only problem is that my check engine light has come on for the second time. Lexy (my pet name for her) has 154,000 miles on her. The first time my light came on, it was the EGR (the dealer replaced the vacuum hoses). This time the light came on a few days after I had my oil changed. It stayed on for about two weeks, then went off by itself, now it is on again. I am aprehensive about taking it to the dealer, because I don't want to be charged alot of money for a minor problem. The car runs very well, but I wonder if any of you may have any ideas as to what it could be? quote name='stoliti' date='Jul 25 2005, 01:50 PM' post='142750'] WOW! I just bought my 97 LX450 with 97K miles with the check engine light on. I was told by many that it is typically a simple sensor that needs to be replaced. The dealer told me that they replaced the EGR sensor at the Lexus dealer recently. I took it to AutoZone and the computer read out said EGR. They also cleared my codes but they came back on the next day. I was told that the previous owner had been using low octane fuel and it was causing a carbon build up. Is there some kind of cleaner that I can buy to fix this? Also, it possible that something else can be causing the light to come on? I know there is a good chance that they DID NOT replace the sensor and I may have to do it myself. But....since gas prices are also high, I believe that the previous user could have been using cheap fuel and causing a carbon build up. Any suggestions or ideas as to what I should do first? Stoliti~ How did you reset the check engine light???
