You can have the back windows (behind the driver) painted black if you want, as long as there is a driver's side and a passenger side rear mirror.
No tint is allowed from the driver's shoulders forward.
You are allowed a tint strip at the top of the windshield if it is opaque(no lettering is allowed though) and I think it can only be as low as 21 inches above the uncompressed seat bottom of the front seat.
Of course, lots of people get away with having the front door windows tinted and I have even had friends put a 5% tint strip on the top of the windshield and then apply a 35% tint to the rest of the windshield so that it doesn't appear to be tinted.
It's only illegal if you get caught. :whistles:
Have you tried your local auto glass shop? Normally, they can get you the glass only for reasonable prices. You just have to specify what options your glass has i.e., heat, dimming, etc.
