  1. I basically bought my Lexus because I wanted one since I first saw them. My 1996 Ford Explorer was dying, and after test-driving (for the first time) an RX300, I fell in love. It's a 2002 RX300 with 50k miles (just turned). I bought it used with 44k about 6 months ago. It's phenomenal. I test drove the vehicle at night, and after turning the car on and having the HID lights automatically come on and level, i was hooked. I know it's not exactly a feature exclusive to Lexus cars, but the brand, the smoothness of the ride, and the size of the vehicle really won me over. I couldn't be happier. Not to mention, when I drive friends around at night, not only do I get compliments on my headlights, but the luminescent dashboard is a real tourist attraction. :)
  2. I had my '02 RX300 in the shop for the 50k mile checkup 2 weeks ago, and got a 2006 Lexus RX400h as a loaner.... with Navigation. It was AMAZING and I was really upset when they called me to get my car back..
  3. I just wanted to let all of you know that I've been happy with the loaner. I took my car into service and have been driving an '05 ES 330 with 9800 miles on it for the past 3 days. Thanks to everyone who contributed!
  4. Right, I asked a simple question about how I would be treated at the Lexus dealership by way of a loaner car. Not a big deal; nor is it a loaded question. I did not expect to be lambasted by a few people who did nothing more than insinuate that I am a snob. I bought a Lexus. They're not cheap. The people who buy them want the best that they can afford. It's not an unreasonable question to know how I'm going to be treated by a company I've given $30k+ to. If you don't like my question and think I'm an elitist or an !Removed!, then deal with it. I personally don't care. I came here for your advice -- and that's it. To all who've helped, I thank you.
  5. Actually, I'm not kidding. I buy a car for comfort; I'd sooner rent a car from Enterprise than take an old, uncomfortable car around for a week. To all others, thanks for the help.
  6. To clarify, By "at least on the level," I mean I'd rather not drive a car two years older than the one I already have. I'd be fine with a new Lexus anything (and granted, I'll only have it a few days), I'd just rather not drive an '89 ES 250 with 130k miles on it ;) I mean, I imagine that they give you the newest models they practicably can in an effort to get you to upgrade... but I don't know. I've only owned my Lexus for 4 months.
  7. Hi Everyone, I have to take my '02 RX into the dealer for service (will be in for a couple of days at least)... and was wondering what you guys' experience was with loaner cars? Clearly, it's a Lexus. So I'm not worried about driving a lemon or anything... but will I at least get something on the same level as what I'm already driving? I'd really like to take an '05 or '06 RX around for a few days and see if I should upgrade anytime soon. You guys' experiences with loaners?
  8. Hi All, I'm the proud new owner of a 2002 Lexus RX300. I've seen everywhere online (including lexus.com) that the 2002 RX comes with remote trunk-lid opening capabilities, but I've yet to figure out HOW to do it. Not even the owner's manual has an answer. Any ideas? It's not a huge deal, but I figure if the feature was advertised (including on the dealership's website where I purchased the car), I'd like to know how to use it... if I can. Thanks! Dustin
