  1. Hello everyone. I am new to this post and would appreciate any advice you may have regarding my 1998 ES300. The problem started recently and the first time it started was when it was raining. My car was parked and I used my remote to unlock my door (the alarm chirpped). When I tried to start the car, it wouldn't start. All of the dash board lights came on and when I tried to start the car again, they all went out. I got out of the car, closed the door and pressed the "unlock" button again. The alarm chirpped, but it was very slight this time. I opened the hood and pressed on the battery cables to make sure they were on tight (which they were) and I went over the the alarm and jiggled the wires a little. I hit the "unlock" button again on the remote and the alarm sounded - louder this time. I got back in the car and tried to start the car and it started. Initially, it seemed that everytime it rained, I had this problem. However, a few days ago, on a bright and sunny day, the same thing happened and I now cannot attribute it to the rain. Although it rained the night before. When I don't use the remote to open the door, the car starts with no problem. I changed the battery in the remote and my car's battery is only 19 months old. The alarm has a "kill switch" mechanism and that's what it seems like is happening when I hit the remote. Has anyone else experienced anything like this or know what could be causing the car not to start. Thanks for any replies.
