okay i've gotten a few pm's regarding my authenticity on other forums but let me tell you a little about myself ... i live in scottsdale Az ... many rich people so alot of expensive cars ... anyway i am retired so i like to go out at night and sometimes race ... i've raced many cars and maybe i can put some of my stories here .... anyway i'm stopped on a red light on Scottsdale Rd ... and a guy pulls up in a MB S55 i reved my engine and so did he ... i drive a 98 GS 400 ... as soon as the light turned green we floored it ... he creeped up ahead of me by a few feet ... our first gears were about the same ... but i had to switch because i was redlining ... he stayed in first for 2.5 seconds more then me but once he switched into second i couldn't keep up he got about 15 feet ahead of me ... but it seemed like once we were both around 90 mph we were picking up speed at the same rate ... so i figure if i had started 15 feet ahead as a handicap i would have given him comp ... but that S55 is a mighty fine car ... Its all fun until you loose control and kill someone.....i work in the mdical field and see this stuff all the time. TAGGAR no TAGGAR you are wrong ... i am a retired police Lt. from the NYPD ... let me tell you something ... some of the street racers i've come across are some of the best drivers out there ... but here is the big BUT out of all car fatalities ... only .7% are caused by illegal street racing ... so instead of preaching to me you should be talking to any older females in your household because over 68% of all deadly car accidents are the fault of female drivers over the age of 58 atleast these are the statistics for NYC ... Shoe P.S. lol you must own a G35 huh

so as i'm getting on the 101 loop in Az this pearl white G 35 coupe pulls up next to me and revs his engine ... now i'm a very big fan of the G35 coupe so i got real excited was hoping to race one soon ... so anyway oh yeah i have a 98 GS 400 stock ... so i honked and we both floored it ... his front bumber must have gotten 4 feet ahead of me when he redlined and had to switch into second gear ... i was still in first ... gotta love the big V8 ... i blew by him ... when i say blew by him i must have rocked him from side to side ... once we hit 115 mph he couldn't keep up lol @ V6... needless to say he kept up better then an S 500 that i raced maybe a month ago ... also so that i won't clutter the board ... i'll ask my second question here ... i've noticed that at slower speeds my tranny (i don't mean transvestite) when in automatic will stay in high gear and drop suddenly to low gear ... and will give the car an uncomfortable ... bump ... i've read all the posts concerning this ... but all were for gs 300 ... anyway i'm going to try something you guys suggested which is reseting the ECU and driving the sh*t out of it ... have not had the 90,000 mile service yet ... should i not be driving very aggresively in fear of my timing belt breaking .... or one thing has nothing to do with the other ... love lexus ... hey guys ... my first post here .... i just got my lexus gs 400 98 with 93,000 miles and i'm in love with it .... anyway just curiouse ... under full trottle switching from 1st gear to 2nd in automatic my engine made that distinctive Psssssss sound that you get when turbo charged and also going from 2nd to 3rd it has done this 3 times and never again .... just wondering if its a problem or nothing to worry about ....
