  1. I have 3 luxury cars (2 Lexus and Benz), all of them recommend (not required) premium gas and I have only used regular unleaded gasoline. It has worked just fine. Save your money (it does matter in today's gas price).
  2. I have 98 GS300 and have never taken to the dealer for oil change. Go to Jiffy Lube or those places who carry oil filter for Lexus. Many times, local shops don't carry and they don't even tell you and still charge. It happened to me. I pay $23 at Jiffy Lube and it is worth it.
  3. Find out how much does it cost to replace the timing belt. According to the manual, it recommends changing at 90K. If you plan to sell it yourself, change it and it will be marketable for the prospective buyer. It is not worth changing it if you plan to trade in.
  4. I have 1998 GS300 and I also find the illumination has decreased significantly. Time to replace to fluorescent bulb(s).
  5. Check the A/C filter and replace it if it is dirty. Look underneath seats or any compartments that are closed. Something may be rotting in those compartments.
  6. I bought AWD GS350 for 45,500 w/o tax, title and doc fee. It has everything but M/L stereo. Didn't care for XM. I live in NJ.
  7. I have 2 Lexus (1998 and 2007) GS300 and GS350. While playing CD, the '98 GS300 random button worked across all 6 CDs and it changed CD after 2 or 3 songs on one CD. While '07 GS350 CD random button only works with one CD. Is this by design or software has a bug that needs fixing.
  8. I have 98 GS-300, at a slow speed, when I am making sharp turn there is a noise coming from the front. The steering wheel fluid is full. The tires are new and inflated to proper PSI. Is this axle related or steering wheel related? Any help/info is highly appreciated.
  9. I had same problem in 1998 GS 300. The rear door on the passenger side was not working. The dealer replaced both doors lock mechanism on the passenger side. It cost me $1K. Their claim was that there is a short in the line. I guess, I got ripped off.
