  1. yes but it is only 1000 but another year older... I appreciate the help.. but for my sanity I may investigate a newer year 430 and 300 such as 2003+ If i am paying and financing.. i almost would feel justified spending more $$ on a newer car .. wonder if I can swing a new 300....

It may just be a question of sanity.....choices, choices.......have you ever purchased a car before?

Just get a gs400. I bought my gs400 1999 6 months ago for $16,000. It has 84,000 miles now and drives/looks like a brand new car. Why blow $10,000 extra?

  2. they are trying to hose you. even trade in is about $12600. I'd put it in the paper for $14k.

In Dallas GS400 are very hard to find especially in black. I just bought an 84,000 mile one in immaculate condition for $16,900, it already had the 90,000 mile service done, brand new tires, new ball joints, redone suspension at 60,000 miles, borla exhaust, and aftermarket xenon lights.

It also has some rock chips. I think you should be able to sell it on ebay with a no reserve auction for a few thousand more than 12k, but maybe I overpaid.

Black GS400's last about 2 weeks at most in the Dallas market.

  3. I had the same problem with my steering wheel ONLY at 55mph, turns out my front two tires are "feathered" as in they have uneven wear, not sure how it happened but the tires came with the car and are brand new, so I am just dealing with it. Check for uneven wear in your tires.

The tires are wider than the recommended size.

  4. Thanks guy's for all the info. I called the only Lexus dealer intown, and they quoted 1,050.00 for the 90,000 mi service. this does not include the water pump but will check and advise. they also flush the tranny and rear diff. change oil, bleed brakes, check brakes and flush and replace coolant. replace air and cabin filters.  plus free loaner car. I decided to go with the dealer for thier knowledge and customer service. the pricing seemed very competitive with the independents. again thanks

You are all nuts! Here is my reply to another 90k service post I just bought a used GS400 with 84,000 and had all the things you mentioned done including ballancing and rotating the tires and tightening up a few things making noise before I bought the car. I got new platinum spark plugs in addition. They did it in a day so no loaner car and no free floor mats.

    But it cost me $380.

It was done by some nice mexican men at a shop, no latte, no flat screen tv, no free donuts, but hey I can visit the Lexus dealership and steal all that stuff anyday.

Man don't you realize most dealerships even nice friendly Lexus ones are rip-offs, don't feed the beast! I mean I have no mechanical ability whatsoever, but this stuff isn't rocket science, anyone with experience can work on these Lexus GS cars. I bet the Toyota dealership is even cheaper if you must go to a dealership.

  5. Good info....I'm coming up on my 90k soon.  I'm the second owner so I'd like to see the maintenance records.   Must be nice to know your car was serviced on a regular basis.

Yea, I thought that was a good part of having the service done at the dealer. it gives you that warm fuzzy feeling knowing your vehicle was maintained resonably well.
