are strut rods the same as sway bar bushings? on the latter, was told these come in a 'unit' (you can just buy the round thingeys separately). they cost 170 or so.

?? Someone else on this board says first gen cars you can replace JUST the bushing. Can anyone verify this is so? What IS the whole unit anyway? Makes a big difference in price if I have to do this (replace whole unit).

Leaks: Trans Pan, Oil Pan, Dipstick O Ring

it has around 80K. i don't know what type fluids have been, except the oil which I think is castrol (remember seeing that on oil changes). will take the synthetic idea under advisement. thank you. -
HI All -- I've been quoted around 200 dollars to fix the trans pan and another 200 or so to fix the oil pan leak. Another 100 or so for the dipstick leak (O Ring). :cries: Is this reasonable, or do I need to shop around? Labor estimates are 1.5 for trans pan issue; 2 hours for the oil pan issue and another hour for the dipstick O Ring issue. :o Thoughts? Thank you!

Do you manually clean the air filter or just replace it? They cost 20 buck or so and changing it out every six weeks could get expensive. Had no idea that I needed to check it that often. The last time the mechanic switched mine out, he had trouble getting to it and getting it back on (this is a 1st Gen LS400 btw).
