  1. Thank you for answering my questions. The Saleman called later on and went over a couple of the ways to have my truck programed and did tell me about the option with pressing and holding the unlock button down for 2 seconds to have all the windows and sunroof open. It's funny.....on the Cadillac you can program all of these things right in the truck itself and you don't have to have the techs do it. I can change all of the things like how long the lights stay on after leaving the truck, when the doors lock with speed or out of park, weather you want the side view mirrors to change when backing up along with a few other things. It's funny that Lexus doesn't do this. I'm hoping the saleman will also explain how to use bluetooth with the truck. I'm preplexed with that issue. Some say it will work some say it won't, I do have a phone that is listed on the lexus site as being one of the ones that will work but I am with Verizon so we will see. Again Thank you.

    Sami

Sami, You can have many of the "options" you list programmed by the dealer. I'm not sure why they don't let us do it, but they call it Lexus Personalized Settings (LPS). As far as the phone goes...there are many posts hear on how to...The first step is to get the car and phone to recognize each other (this is a one time event because it will remember). The most difficult thing to do is transfer your phone book (I still have not done this as I have Verizon as well). My phone is on I start the car it says bluetooth recognotion successful and off you go. Incoming calls "take over" the nav screen and pause music. Piece of cake!

  2. Yes, there is a way to stop that annoying light. You reach left and pull the belt across your chest and insert it into the well placed latch.

OK I know it's not funny, but that made me laugh. If you want a reason for wearing a belt drive your car at 20mph into a wall without one!

  3. Hello,

Does anyone out there have instructions on how to perform the DVD override on a 2006 GX470 - Fully loaded Sport Package? :)

    1. Press the "menu" button

    2. Press the "volume" icon on the screen

    3. Press the top left of screen

    4. Press the bottom left of screen

    5. Press the top left of screen

    6. Press the bottom left of screen

    The service menu screen appears:

    7. Press and hold the "override" button until you hear a beep and the text changes from white to black

    8. Press "back"

  4. Sorry to hear about your problems...It does sound like a dealership problem. I just took my GX in for the second time regarding the clunk. The first time I could not reproduce it during a test drive. This time I said drive it til you experience the clunk. I said I did not want it back until it was fixed. They ordered the new parts (TSB on clunk) that day.

  5. I purchased my RX400h in 2005 and had heard that there are some tax credits/deductions available to me on my NY state tax return. I haven't been able to find a definitive explanation of what they are and was hoping one of you all could help. Thanks!!

    Ever here of google?

York's Alternative Fuel (Clean Fuel) Vehicle Tax Incentive Program, which offered tax credits and a tax exemption for purchasing new hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs), have expired. In Jan. 2006, Governor Pataki proposed new incentives. For more information, please contact the New York State Energy Research & Development Authority (NYSERDA) at 866- NYSERDA, via email at info@nyserda.org, or visit the web site at www.nyserda.org.

  6. The Gx 470 has only 235 hp but has plenty of torque 320 ft lbs. I don't think there is a lack of torque. I think the GX has good acceleration for a 4700 lb SUV. My other car is a M5 so I do have a good judgement of fast. ;)

Agreed! My other car is a 996TT.

    BTW...the Z06 vette... 505 hp at 6300 rpm and 470 lb.-ft. of torque at 4800 rpm

  7. Cost of oil change:

    Filter: K&N $11.00

Oil: Castrol 5W-30 anti-sludge formula: $10.70 for 5 gallon jug

    Total: $21.70

Dealer cost for oil change and tire rotation: $135.00

I still need to get the tires rotated (or do it myself), but even if I have it done at the local Discount tire, it shouldn't be more than $20, I would think.

    Dave

Dave, you failed to mention the time it took you? This would be important in the comparison you are making. BTW, What is your hourly rate?

  8. Dr. Gee and Statman,

    I have a 2006 GX470 with Nav & RSES.

The hack works for me in park and while in motion.

These are the steps I follow:

    1. Hit the "Menu" button

    2. Press "Volume" icon on the screen

    3. Press top left of screen

    4. Bottom left

    5. Top left

    6. Bottom left

    The service menu screen appears.

    7. Press and hold "Override" until you hear a beep and the text changes from white to black

    8. Press "Back"

    9. Press the "Destination" button to enter desired destination.

As mentioned earlier in the discussion, the override will remain in effect until you turn the car off.

Good luck. Let me know if this works for you.

    Antonio.

    That works! Thanks.

  9. Lol we dont get all those taxes here in california.

You don't get all those taxes??? Do you pay federal?

And just a side note, isnt there more horsepower in the 350 now, 270 versus 268 or something lol. So lets get this straight, it is roughly the same price, ill give you that, but the rx350 has a jaw dropping two more horsepower and wood trim. So yes, if you want to save the environment, then get the hybrid. Tho, the 350 is a ULEV and also gets just maybe under 6 miles per gallon. And no, that would NOT be cheaper than a rx350. Cheapest base price for the hybrid $45,355 versus the two wheel drive rx330 (currently) $37,400. so thats a difference of more than 5000 in which you saved

According to car & driver the price difference is $4-5K...comparing apples to apples:

    http://www.caranddriver.com/article.asp?se...2&page_number=1

All I know is when I compared them at the dealer the price difference was about $4K. Oh yeah that's AWD!

  10. Personally, i would get the 350 for a couple of reasons. Long term wise, i think it would be cheaper than the hybrid. It will take at least 10 years + to gain back the difference in price from the gasoline savings. Also, i like the wood trim in cars instead of the aluminum...just my opinions.

I just got $2000 federal and $3736 state tax write-off...let's see that would make it cheaper than the RX330!

  11. The slowest Porsche 997 coupe (911-2006) with Tip does the following:

    3.6 l, 6 cylinders, Torque 273 ft lb. @ 4,250 rpm, 325 hp (SAE) @ 6,800 rpm

    0-60 mph: 5.2 sec

    Top Track Speed: 173 mph

A little bit of bending of reality perhaps as every other manual tranny runs under 5.0.

And some do way better (<3.5 for one that I know).

BTW 0-60 in 5.2 is awesome for that car!

  12. I have a meeting with the area rep for lexus to look at my clunk problem. Any suggestions on how I should handle the meeting. Also, does anyone have a way to fix the problem that lexus has not found yet. Any techical information on the problem would also be great.

    TexGX

Tex, I just had my 06 in for 5K service. I have noticed a very slight clunk ( actually feels more like the shocks settling) so I took the service tech. for a test ride. BTW, the service writter said the clunk is "normal". Of course nothing happened, but he did tell me that he has an 04 GX and had to have the drive shaft replaced (and it fixed the problem). He also said that 80% of GX's have the problem ( he also stated he has replaced so many of them he can do them in his sleep). He indicated they have not had an 06 with the problem yet. I would print out this thread when you talk to the area rep. Hope this helps.
