  1. I'll tell you exactly what that squeeky rattle is/was in my 400h. It's the rear armrest! In the closed position, I get a terrible noise that sounds like leather/plastic squeeking. Opened up, it's totally silent, so I leave it open now....

    Hope this solves your problem.

    Hi,

I have 7600 miles on the RX400h in the Washington DC area.  Drives like a dream, mileage as most have reported.  Two problems in the last six weeks, that seem increasingly annoying.. has anyone else had that same, and if so, what has the dealer done?

    1.  There is a rattle audible inside the car when moving.  I have NOTHING in the car, seems to be coming from the back 'cargo' area. My spouse has driven and I have sat in the rear seats to try and isolate it, but can not.

    2. Lately when it rains, ie when the door windows are wet, if I roll them down, after the rain stops, about a 1/2 way down they squeek, LOUDLY, Yesterday, it was just moist out, the humidity was up and it did it.  Mostly the driver's window.

Small but annoying for such an expensive vehicle.  Anyone else had similar?

    Thanks in advance, Lydia

  2. I have been hearing various stories about how long the RX400h can sit without being used.  Since I drive a few different cars and we travel for weeks at a time during the summer, I was wondering if anyone had a fix on how long the car can sit without being used before the batteries are affected?

Also, are there any preventive steps that you would take if you were going to park the car for say a month?

My car sit for three weeks this summer, and fired right up upon my return. What surprised me was the the HV batteries were still about 2/3-3/4 charged. Since they are NiMH, I assumed they would have dissipated somewhat more than that.

  3. Does it require harness/cable wiring modifications, or is it plug&play? I thought I had heard that some mods were required for the 400h...

This is a dealer kit.  Even it isn't officially supported for the RX, it works fine.  It's the same thing we Prius and Sienna owners have been using, a genuine Toyota kit to fit a Camry Solara or similar.

The only caveat is the display is limited to 10 characters instead of 16.  Other than that, it works perfectly.

  4. Well guys,

    -- snip --

In addition to the XM install, they also tested their Sirius unit and it worked perfectly.  I am extremely satisfied and it was much more reasonably priced than the VAIS unit.

The control unit mounted easily under a rear storage tray near the hatch and running the cable through the car was a piece of cake.  The satellite antenna was installed right behind the GPS antenna and you can hardly tell its there.

When you tested the Sirius unit, was it their standard Prius package, or were the connectors modified for the 400h?

    Thanks!
