  1. I was also loosing coolant. I discovered coolant was on the passenger side floorboard, soaking the carpet.

I would assume this would be a leak in the heater core. I have not had a chance to look at the core. It is a big job just getting to it. I have bypassed the heater core, by rerouting the hoses connected to the heater control valve, located on the firewall inside the engine compartment. I have ordered a new heater core, just in case it is leaking. It is such a big job getting to the core, I wanted a new core to put there.

  2. I would like to find a replacement CD stacker as my dealer was nice enough to loose mine and cannot find a replacement, because they are out of stock. Does anyone know of a source of supply for these things? I believe that the pioneer part number is JD-T612.

Some are available on Ebay and I will buy one from there, but I would really appreciate it if someone could please confirm that it looks like their 98 unit, so that I don't get the wrong one. (My 92 magazine is not compatible)

    Thanks very much!

I bought two from Ebay a couple of years back. I checked ebay today and one is listed for sale

  3. hello everyone

my names dave and i am a 90'ls owner and heve been puzzled on the operation of my heat.I have played around with climate controls, changed the thermostat. My temp setting is all the way up and when heat is turned on u can hear the chute for the heater core open but after 20 min of driving still no heat.my lcd is blacked out like most ls, im frustrated please anyone help driving in jersey with 20 and 30 degree days is killing me

I had the same problem. Check your coolant level. I filled it to the line and all is warm now.

  4. I have 1 1990 LS400. My AC was performing just like you described. I had a 14 oz. can of R12 freon.

I would not use the hose without a guage inline. I have a guage set. I did quite a bit of research to

determine the correct PSI on the low side. I topped of my AC and stopped when the guage read 35 PSI.

It took about 7 ounces ( half a can). It is really cold now. Always fill with the can upright. You only want gas

to enter. Never turn the can upside down. It will take a few minutes to reach 35 PSI, be patient.

Note: When you connect the hose to the low side, just get the threads started, so you can open the

Guage valve to blow the air out of the line (you will hear a hiss) then quickly tighten the hose. Turn the Guage valve off then. Start the engine, set the AC on max. Turn the valve open to let the gas in. Keep an eye one the guage. Hope this helps.

I have seen on some part sites, that 1991 LS400 front rotors have been retrofitted to 1990 Ls400.

The 1990 rotors are 23mm min. thick and the 1991 rotors are 26mm min. thick.

Does anyone know if this retrofit can be performed with no modification to the 1990 LS400?

    Update:

I found that the 26mm min thick rotors were retroffited to 1990 ls400 with a date code of 7/90 and later.

My date code is 4/90. I must have the 23mm min. thick rotors.

I have contacted Lexus USA since I have the same problem. Have you successfully retrofitted using the 26mm min rotors? Harvey

I have not contacted Lexus, however I have found a service bulletin for this issue. See attachment.
