    Welcome back ArmyofOne - although I do not know you since I am newer here, I wish you well in your future. I am a product of the military from the 80's. Did my basic, back when it was only 8 wks in Ft. Knox Kentucky and my AIT in Ft. Jackson SC - after my overseas hardship tour and then my stateside assignment, I got out, but do miss many of the friendships I made from there. I still keep in contact with a couple I was stationed with in Colo. He is now an E6 or E7 by now and his wife is just out period raising all the kids and working too.

    Be proud of your service to your country. Whether you agree with the politics or not, still be proud of it. We are of you.

    P.S. The hottest place I have ever been to was Ft. Hood TX. OMG ! It was so hot they had to stop all uneccessary activities. We just laid in our tents pouring canteens full of water over ourselves watching the water evaporate. They had to bring in the copters to give us rides in to keep morale high. Felt sorry for the cooks that had to work no matter what. I think it was over 110 F for over a week :wacko:

    Thanks guys - very helpful indeed. The only thing I am still not sure about is the cutting of the key.

    (1) Are the cuts the same for all of them, but it's the internals that make them different so a car can't be opened or started.....oooorrrrrrr

    (2) is each laser cut different for each car ???

    Blame it on the lack of coffee in da house :cries:

    That key is not from a 93 lexus but a newer one.

    You can get used keys from ebay and dremel off the plastic holding it and slide it back up out the shell and just reinsert your pre cut one and transponder in.

    Just confirming from reading posts and trying to search for the right answer, but I can buy a "cut" key from ebay and the reprogram it for my car as long as I already have one master... ?

    NEVER MIND somewhat...took some diggin' but found I have to buy a blank, still working on the regular one or long one, have it laser cut and then have it programmed...took awhile, but hopefully that is right. I have two now, but I would like to have three and put the 3rd in the safe...unless two is the max the puter' will handle ???? That is still not clear in my head. Thanks

    Shouldn't have been in the lane anyways :chairshot: , but I understand the frustration at times. In my area, motorcycles are allowed in the commuter lanes on Hwy 101, but not in some places in the East Bay (from my recollection). As for the fine, it's about $275 here. OUCH !

    Like many electrical items out there. Maybe, maybe not depending if it was activated while wet, submerged, shark attack, jellyfish sting whatever. Heck, I guess a full moon could be an issue too...somehow.

    In my experience, I have rinsed in fresh water, opened it up and allowed to air dry while rotating it around to avoid water sitting while drying and giving the false sense that after a few hours/days, it should be dry.

    Try it and see...won't know till you try.

    It's nice to see (although I wish it wouldn't have happened in the first place) disaster relief come to us.  Seems like we are always helping other countries in their time of need.  It's just nice and pleasing to the heart to see it returned in our time of need.

    Well said civi! Dozens of countries (friend & foe) have offered help to the U.S. & it's nice to see other nations come to aid of another (no matter how powerful or not) in their time of need. B)

    NOT SURE WHAT I AM LOOKING FOR IN THE FAQ. NOTHING IN THERE ABOUT OPTIMA PERFORMANCE MODULE THAT I SAW BEFORE MY EYES STARTED BLURING. NOTHING IN A SEARCH OF THE ES FORUM UNDER "OPTIMA", "+OPTIMA", "MODULE", "+MODULE" ETC.

    AND FOR THE SIG, MY PUTER STOPS AT ONE MORE ITEM LOADING AND JUST SITS THERE.

    Oh, very nice indeed. I assume the DVD in the glovebox is for the flip down and not for watching on the NAV ? What kind of flip down did you use ?

    Very nice and clean. What particular devices did you use to get the camera shot from the rear to show on the NAV ?

    Oh yeah...and what did you pay for all this to be done. I want the camera for sure in the car (to go on when we go into "R"), but the DVD player would be nice too. I'm torn between getting one in the headrest...

    I tried asking this question back on the 27th of Aug. and got no answer on the tech forum. Of course it was in a topic that had been going for awhile, so maybe that was it.

    Does anyone know if I can add the voice command option to my car using this little upgrade ? 02 ES300. Oh yeah, how about more of the options, like the back up camera and such too ?

    This topic was about a $50 dollar part to make your NAV voice control or similar and I wanted to know if this was possible on mine along with the little backup camera too.

    I have the the one from spoiler depot as you can see in this post. It's excellent in all respects, but the price is about 4 times higher then the one advertised on ebay.

    The one on ebay is very similar to the dealer equipped spoilers that are sold for Toyota Camry's.......that, I didn't want on my Lexus, otherwise I think it's a great deal.

    Exactly the advice I wanted. Thanks. No I just need to see both of them side by side and convince the boss :(

    GREAT...I just got ripped off on eBay buying one of the defective discs! (ARGH).

    I have a 2001 GS300 with Nav version 2.1

    I put the 4.1 in and the system says it's unreadable.

    I got my hands on version 3.2...same thing.

    Is there something special I am to do to enable using a newer version?

    yes the special thing to do is get a disc that was made to update yours. NOT ONE THAT CAME IN A 2004 BUT ONE MADE IN 2004 TO UPDATE THE OLDER DISCS . the 2003 update has part number 86271-33032 on the disc. the bubble wrap had part number mn 00230-dvd03-cy. the 2004 update has part numnber 86271-33033 on ther dvd and the bubble wrap has MN-00230-dvd04-CY.

    Just put my upgrade DVD in and it was bubble wrapped and it said "Toyota CY '04 Navigation DVD Update Disk MN 00125-DVD04-CY" I went right in with no issues. This is the newest version to date according to the dealer and I paid $250 ouch.
