I have a 2006 GS 300.
The specs say the fuel tank is 18.8 Gallons...however, when the car tells me I have 20 miles left (i.e. about 1 Gallon by the math) and I go fill up the tank, I can only put in like 15 Gallons.
So in theory there is link 3.8 Gallons left when the computer is telling me there is only 1. Anyone else have this?

You understand from BMW owners incorrectly. There is no way many Verizon phones can transfer phonebooks to ANYTHING because the phone has no such functionality.
SOME Verizon phones now support the trasfer of phonebooks, and they will work on the Lexus system also.
On some BMW cars they do not connect VIA bluetooth, but rather with a cord.
If you can connect your VZW through a cord you won't have issues

When I bought my gs300 awd in Dec, my sales rep told me that they(whoever they are) are working on a new Sirius module/receiver that can be FULLY integrated with our cars. Much like XM is now. Fully integrated meaning that the receiver can be installed in the trunk for example, plugged in to the head unit and voila. The timeline for this new receiver is sometime this spring.
I have a 2006 GS300AWD Loaded. I wanted to get Siruis installed but dealerships are telling me that they are being recalled. Does anyone know anything about this? Will Sirius be availble and when?
Thanks
They have had a fully integrated SIRIUS radio for some time. I bought my car in July of last year and they installed it.
I'm not sure what kind of recall there would be...mine works perfectly except for the fact that half the song title and artist get cut off, but that happens with XM too

Its just an oil change and tire rotation, $150-$300 depending on your dealer.
Is that really all they do? I can go to Jiffy Lube for $19

Anyone know what the cost on a 10K miles service on a 2006 GS runs?

I have been putting blue lights all over my car. I changed the dome light, footwell lights, door lights, key ring light, parking lights, and side marker lights to blue. I was wondering if you guys think I should put blue lights under the car. Give me your opinions.
Definitely - I mean how else will your car look like a total Ghetto Machine??

This problem is a new one - last two times I let it get low on fuel. It occurs about 10 miles after the empty light lights. It has never occured in years past. It has recent water pump, timing belt relacement. Dealer says bring it in when it is happening but I don't want to chance not arriving or further damage. Any suggestions are appreciated.
There's a very simple fix......
you ready??? .....get a pencil....... put gas in the car

I am thinking about a new GS 300. Was wondering about remote start. I have it on my old car and love it. I think there may be an issue with it not actually having an ignition. Anyone else run across this or know some one who does it?/
i recently purchased a 06 gs300 but u r correct in assuming without a standard ignition that remote start is not possible. this was much to my dismay as it is getting colder. hopefully there will be some developments from lexus re: this issue
The Cadillac STS has a push button ignition and comes with a remote start - so in theory, it should be possible
-
Hey thanks for the tip, I will try it out today. It just seems weird that sometimes it works and others it doesnt. Technology gotta love it
Dave
There isn't really a setting that should cause that - I'm guessing one of the 2 is malfuctioning (phone or CAR)

You don't need the dealer to do this - look in the book at the section that talks about LOCKS, and it will tell you how to program it yourself.
The way I set it is that when you touch the DRIVER's Door, that's the only one that opens, but when you touch the DRIVER'S PASSENGER door, all of them open.
That way, if I'm with my wife, I just touch the back door handle as I approach the car and still have the ability to only open the front door if I'm alone.

Lex411, are you saying that it is better to lease the GS rather than going with a 72 month loan. I didn't really understand? Sorry, i am not real good with numbers. lol. The part that bothers me with the lease is i will have to put almost 2500 out of pocket, but on the other hand it will be a new car. If i take out a 72 month loan on a 3 year old GS, how high do you think my interest rate will be with teir 1 credit, out of NJ.
As an FYI you can always put 0 down on a lease. They will bake the costs into the your payments (only thing you may have to pay is first month)

I have just purchased a 06 GS 300 and am wondering if you are able to purchase the XM radio kit by other than the dealership. The least expensive dealer quoted 605 for kit and installation. Is this a good deal?
I was charged 799 (negotiated down from 899) for XM or Sirius

Has anyone used non-premium Gas (i.e. 87) in their 2006 GS 300??
Any performance issues?
-
Why is that people like to make their GS look like a hoodlum mobile?
-
BTW: This procedure also bypasses the bluetooth lock, so you will be able to dial out from the screen while the car is in motion also.
this part would be huge
-
Why don't you get yourself a nice station wagon with the wood panels??

The only thing LEXUS can do is change the lexus system to allow you to manaually enter in names.
Verizon is not going to change their Bluetooth phone capabilities until (or if) they lose the Class Action Suit.
The only real work around is to by a junky phone to program your numbers, that's what I do. (Dialing the number and assiging it to a ONE TOUCH button does not help you because you cannot enter a name and when you drive the numbers don't show up, so you have no clue what's stored on what button)
-
I actually got a method that works - I guess I should have posted it.
I got a little bag (like the one an ezpass comes in) and lined it with NUMEROUS layers of foil.
Then, once you put the key in the BAG the sensors stop working.
(The method suggested of wrapping it in foil also worked, but this is easier for them to handle)

Is there anyone who is up to speed on the 2006 Mark Levinson stereo in the 2006 gs. My wife and I just bought a 2006 gs with the Mark Levinson stereo and the manual does a poor job of defining its capabilities.
I really can't call the dealership because the sale people probably know less than me about the different capabilities of the system. Basically I am looking for anyone who help me out with settings and how to set it up i.e. dvd audio, cd etc...
Thanks in advance for any help.
vb
The setup is really easy, so there shouldn't be too many issue. Hit AUDIO on buttons to the side then either DSP or SOUND on the screen to set up speakers (left/right/front/back) etc... Everything else is just nuisance at the start.
Regarding CDs, just hit the "load button" (once.. sometimes twice) until the red around the opening turns green. Then put Cd in label up.
DVDs I dont know.
By the way.. would be VERY interested in your opinion of sound. You can see my post earlier, but the sound in my GS300 AWD sounds like all the sound is coming from the dash-- no surround effect at all. Sounds worse than my $100 5.1 surround sound speakers on my PC!
I hope u dont have same problem, but would be interested to know.
Regarding the CD Load, if you hold the LOAD button for a few seconds, it will go into a special load mode that will allow you to put 6 CD's one after the other - as opposed to hitting load each time

Go to home depot, to the section where they sell the poles.
Get one cut to the size of your trunk, use it to prop the trunk open.
:D :D :D

the worst thing is Verizon is telling customers they have updated the software to work. What I did for the phonebook. Dial a # from the nav screen. Hang up. Then I added from outgoiung calls to one-touch. I have the number but not the name.
I had one guy tell me it's a defect in the Motorla production line.
In terms of the phonebook, I bought a cheap non-Verizon bluetooth phone on EBAY. I paid 30 bucks and then added the numbers (with names) into the phone and then linked it up to download the phonebook.
The problem with not putting in the names is that when you get a phone call, if it is not in your phonebook, the caller ID is blank.

the bluetooth connection disables the ability to have the phone voice dial as a safety feature. I have found that the V 710 wont ring in the GS .
One of Lexus excessive RIDICOULOUS safety features.
I have the V710 and it won't ring either - someone told me they get the E815 (the new V710) to ring, but I don't think that's true.
-
I guess my question would be why would you drive without your seatbelt? I was OK with the comment about not getting it on by the end of the driveway (although I would put it on before moving ;)) but the stop and driving again assumes you are now way beyond the driveway.
Because I need to stop the car for the gate to open and there are a couple speedbumps in my complex - sometimes I didn't put the seatbelt on until I exited the complex

My 2006 GS is actually at the dealer today getting SIRIUS installed - I'll let you know if I have the same problem

Maybe it's just another ridiculous Lexus Safety Feature so you don't run out of gas
