  1. well the seatbelt warning is for your own safety.

as for everything else, i guess it just does that to let u know that something needs service or attention.

the dealer will not assist you in turning any of the warning lights/sounds off. i've already tried....

While I do buckle my seatbelt, sometimes I don't get to it by the end of the driveway.....the thing starts beeping 50 times a second.

Service warnings are fine, but I've never had a car put the low washer fluid warning in RED (usually yellow) and making noise.

  2. Does anyone find the constant binging on the 2006 GS annoying??

This car bings at every little thing. It's goes out of control if you drive 10 yards without your seatbelt, and worse today, my car is out of washer fluid and it kept binging telling me LOW WASHER FLUID my entire 1 hr commute....

Anyone get the dealer to shut this off??

  3. Hey guys, just picked up my '06 GS430 on Friday.  I was wondering if anyone has direct wired a radar detector yet?  If so, any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

Just had my V1 hardwired into my '06 GS300. Ran the wire down the black rubber moudling onn drivers side and added a new fuse that was accessory powered to the fuse block the drivers footwell.

I did the same thing, but continuted running it underneath the leather panel on the right of the driver and into the center console and used that dc outlet.

I did it myself and it was free....

  4. Is Radar Cruise Control worth the expense and long order time?  My dealer says its hard to find on the west coast and I might need to wait 3 months if I order a GS300 with this feature.

I personally don't think so....to be honest, I'm not sure I'd be very comfortable with the car deciding when to accelerate and when to brake.

That's like the Lexus Pre-Collision System

  5. And oh by the way, I was fully aware of the risks - the lease had gap insurance and I can pay it off at any time.  If I keep the car for the remaining term of the lease, I will make $9,600 of payments.  If I let the car go now, adding the remaining "equity" that exist from my larger capital reduction payment plus what it will take to correct the upside down position will allow me to get out of the lease for approximately $5K.  I am sorry to disappoint you - I do have a bit more of a clue than what you give me credit for.

Your astute financial skills are quite flawed. Yes you could dump the car for less than the remaining payments, but you then would have NO CAR......

A large down payment on a lease is NEVER a good idea - regardless of your intentions. If the car is stolen or totaled, (GAP insurance is irrelevant), you're not a check back from LEXUS for your downpayment.

If you want to bring your monthly costs down, Lexus offers a MULTIPLE SECURITY DEPOSIT option (in most states), which allows you lower the interest rate and thus lower the monthly payment. This is a much better option.

  6. Just purchased a new '06 GS300 AWD w/Nav. Car seems to be awesome. Only complaints I have is (1) no trunk light?? (2) run flat tires are fine on smooth road surface but seem to take the big bumps hard.

Would love to hear from other new '06 GS300 AWD owners on how they like the car.

There is a trunk light with a switch on the right side of the trunk (right above the first aid kit).

The light will turn off when you close the trunk - even if the switch is on. I leave the switch on all the time

  7. New '06 GS300 AWD w/bluetooth not totally compatible with my Motorola V710 blue tooth phone. Won't D/L address book, etc. Cell provider is Verizon. Anybody offer any help on this? Thanks!

    Ed:

There currently is no workaround to this issue. I have spoken with Lexus engineers and they have confirmed they are working on a solution with Denso, the OEM manufacturer of the Nav/BT system. The rep. did say there would no solution for the '06 model year but would likely be adddressed in the '07 models. When I inquired as to whether a firmware upgrade would be made available for our systems ho said he had no info. as to whether that would be possible. The other issue you will likely encounter with the V710 or E815 (I own both) is that there will be no audible ringer in the car . . only the handset itself will ring. Congrats on the new car . . .

The phonebook problem is not with LEXUS, it is with Verizon. Verizon blocks the OBX option on the Bluetooth Phone. This option allows you send contacts/files via bluetooth. (They claim the reason is because they are not pleased with the performance - the true reason, is because they don't want you to send pictures via bluetooth for free...they want you to use the VZ Picture Mail and charge you)

The only "workaround" is what I did - buy a cheap phone on ebay and use that to import.

As for the ringer, it is annoying that it doesn't ring - especially since I keep my phone on vibrate. If you keep the radio on, it's okay though as it mutes the radio and you know you have a call.
