  1. Update: after several tries I finally got the problem with my sirius radio to reproduce in the presence of a Lexus service rep. So they started to investigate and found that the sirius unit was not plugged in all the way - so basically a reseat of the unit seems to make it work a lot better. VxG
  2. I live in Western WA state (Bellevue, Seattle area) & I just read your other post. I understand it cuting out in tunnels & under trees but what about it playing in the background when I try to listen to FM, AM or even a CD? I took it in to the dealer today to try to diagnose the problem but they were unable to reproduce the problem. I've emailed the service manager to ask for suggestions & what I should do if I reproduce it again. If I turn the engine off and then start up again the problem goes away so naturally making an appointment, taking the car in, turning it off, etc. is a non starter. Very messed up. VXG
  3. Hi all - I'm the owner of a 4 day old 2005 ES330 and have been listening to the preview Sirius programming (the car came with the Sirius unit installed). Unfortunately I hit a problem today: The scenario - driving home this evening listening to a rock station I notice that the signal is cutting out a lot because I'm driving under a lot of trees. This may or may not be related. All of a sudden the radio turns off - no displays of anything on the LCD. Its like something just turned the whole audio system off. When I turn it back on I cannot select any SAT1,2,3 - only AM or FM1,2. However the last programming is still playing through the speakers. If I tune to any AM or FM station I hear both - the radio station as well as the sirius rock station coming through the speakers! There's no way I can turn off the Sirius radio programming now. Very strange. Obviously since its just a 4 day old car I'm going to ask Lexus to fix it (I'm taking it anyway tomorrow to get the personalization done) but I figured I'd ask on this forum to see if anyone else has seen similar problems and what they did about it. VXG.
  4. ← I have always declined that 3M film on the front of the bumpers. Mostly because it looks like crap. All it is is a thin film that is glued (well kinda) to the front bumper and half of the hood. The only thing is, you can see where it is and isn't. It looks like a scratch halfway across the hood. And, this stuff doesn't show rock chips etc, so after a month or so, the rest of the car has a few sand chips, and the area with the 3M stuff looks clean. I just don't like it. And, if you ever decide to remove it after a year or two, you will be able to see the spot where it was/wasn't. the part where it wasn't, you will see that it has mison rock chips etc.... i personally wouldn't put in on a $39,000 car, but if you want to, then go right ahead.. ← Thanks, the concept of a film-like substance sort of creeped me out - hence I asked. I just wasn't buying that this was too good of an idea. BTW, I just got delivery of the car. Super glad to be a first time Lexus owner. VxG
  5. Thanks for the advice. What about this 3M chip guard product - its some sort of clear urathane film that is placed over the hood, front bumper, headlights, mirrors, etc to guard against road chip damage. I'm concerned that it would be similar to the impact of clearcoading Black - it sort of dulls it out. Does anyone here have any experience with this product?
  6. Hi all, I'm new here and will soon be (fingers crossed) the owner of a Black Onyx 2005 ES330. Now the dealer tries to sell you three things (1) paint protection - i.e. some sort of sealant; (2) Chip guard based on a 3M product for the front of the hood, headlights, mirrors, etc. and (3) leather and uphostery protection. I plan to decline these but I know black onyx does not have a clear coat (thanks to this forum). So my question to the wise out there - how much of this stuff is really useful? I know I can get them all done from local detail shops for a lot less than the dealer is proposing - but even then I'd only want to do it if it was useful. For the record I'm in the Seattle, WA area - plenty of elements that may impact the paint on the new car. thanks for any advise. VXG
  7. Hi all - I'm new to this forum but hope to be a regular participant when/if I buy a new Lexus ES330. But for starters I'm looking for recommendations on which Seattle area Lexus dealership is preferred by users in the area? At the end of the day I'm basically looking for which one is the most willing to negotiate on price. Essentially there are three in the area: - Lexus of Bellevue - Lexus of Tacoma at Fife - Lexus of Seattle in Lynwood It seems that the Bellevue dealership owns the one in Tacoma so I'm leaning towards calling Lynwood first. If needed I'll get prices from all three but there's also a time factor to consider (I'm having a very busy month). Any suggestions or recommendations out there? thanks VXG
