  1. Thanks for your help so far. To get the Brake Light indicator off I am replacing the 4 lights and the 1 center bulbone at a time. I've done all but the lights located on the hatch door. I see the two nuts to remove but is there more to remove behind the fuzzy back panel and how do I get that off?

yeah, you need to get that fuzzy panel off. you can use a panel popper. i just use my finger and pry it off.

  2. It turns out that when I turn the foglights on, both headlights light up!  But when I just turn the headlights on by themselves, the left one is out.  Does this make sense to anyone?

you sure its not the bulbs? i had a similar problem with my taillights. when i turned my lights on the left taillight wouldn't work. but when i stepped on the brake, both worked. i just changed the bulbs and it fixed everything. and if its not the bulbs or the fuse then it just might be the wires

  3. Hi,

I'm a little bit of a purist and don't like making modificatiosn

to listen to my I-Pod through the RX sound system (Nakamichi

I think) , but is there anyway that I can connect the I-Pod to

the 2000 RX stereo system without changing the look of the

interior of the vehicle (though the glovebox CD changer perhaps?)

    Has anyone done this before?

    Any input woudl help thanks!

You also might check out Make magazine - a mag that helps people modify things in non-conventional ways. The current issue has an iPod integration in it, I think, and I know they have some electronic car mods in it.

I found iCarPlay Wireless FM to be the best solution so far. This will charge the ipod and has a FM transmitter.

the downside is wireless FM has really bad sound quality. and its pretty annoying trying to change the frequency in a city where the airwaves are congested.

  4. Thank you. For the first one, I have done a bit of looking, and still cant find anything. For the head unit. I actually want to put in a touch screen to REPLACE the screen that I have now. But I heard that is IMPOSSIBLE due to the controls. For the rims, I am looking for a good set of 18's and then lower it or just putting on a good set of 20's. TIRERACK only goes up to 17's.

It IS possible. Check out cardomain.com and browse the RX300 owners. True, those AC controls are vital, but they can be relocated.

  5. I know there are several topics on here regarding this, but I want to know if I can put a pioneer avic n1 flip out dvd/navigation in my RX 300. I've seen some custom jobs done where people have put head units all over the front of the car. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/239240/2

That is what I'm looking to do, I want the unit in the center dash so I can see my screen. I am going to take it to Tweeter and see, but they don't always know everything. How complicated is it for me to put the unit in? I know there is a little space below the stereo next to the heated seats, and maybe I can move everything down like in the link above, but I don't know how expensive that may be or even if it's possible without having to worry about ruining anything. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Did you ever end up getting this done? I'm in the same position.

I'm about to gwet this done by the end of the week. i was give a quote of $800-1000 for labor and parts and will take approx. 4 days. I will post pics when done.

  6. i am in the L.A. california area. i have installed an alpine iva-c800 and alpine dva in my center consol of my 02 rx300. i am looking to go back to stock. it is a very clean install and if anyone is looking for this type of alpine setup, it would be a great deal. i have lots of pictures and a whole custom stereo setup i am looking to get rid of. if anyone is intrested, email me. i have a guy who would do the switching of the stereos and we can discuss price if you are intrested. check out the link to see the pics.

  8. Im in desperate need of help for this. I have a 2000 Rx300 with the pioneer system, no nav. I've been searching online for months trying to figure out how to change the factory deck with an aftermarket one. As far as I know I cant because the factory deck also controls the climate. Ive tried a handful of "car audio specialists" but none would consider doing any custom installations or find a kit for one. Has anybody succeeded in changing their deck? Any suggestions to where I can mount one? Is it even possible to add another deck and still have the stock one functional too? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!
