99 LX470 with a new Die Hard battery (6mp old) having similar problems. You enter a cold car, turn the key and nothing but the usual lights and radio. You sort of sense the starter is trying but no cranking at all. Try again 10 minutes later and it fires up like nothing ever happened. A very strong starter turn followed by the engine roar.
