  1. All,

Need some input. I currently have Eibach Pro kit on my 94 SC400. Question, should I get Tokico shock for my current setup or should I just scrap the Eibach springs and get something like Tien Basic or Tien Super Street. Any thought is appreciated. Anybody with experience on Tien Basic or Super Street or Flex or Eibach with Tokico shocks. If you suggest Tokico shocks, please give exact model name or number.

    Thanks,

    MoonySC400

I'm going to get the Tein SS. I heard they have a decent ride without having to spend a lot. I have a question. Hows the drop and ride quality on the eibach with stock shocks? Also, is it a even drop or does the rear look lower than the fron. Please post pics if you have any? thanx

  2. Looking for the 12 cd magazine/cartridge for the trunk mounted CD changer.. Do you have one available?

Mrfeb14, Your not going to find a working 12 disc changer for your car, Fujitsu made the changers and they are junk to begin with and no one repairs them. If you want a replacement changer let me know, You need to upgrade to a 96 ES 6 disc changer it comes with the correct mounting brackets and is plug and play.

I need the red cap over the freon refill valve in front of the engine compartment right when you open the hood.

  3. The car must be in park with the drivers door open and the key turned on before they will adjust the memory positions.

Saying the Fm doesn't work is not detailed enough of an explanation.

The memory seats still wont work with the drivers door open and the key turned on. The radio works great when surfing am channels and when a cd is in the changer. But when you switch it to fm mode it doesn't play anything. Its not the antenna because the radio shop checked that.

  4. Hey fellow owners, I have a 1997 ES300 with 70k and found out from a local radio shop that my radio needs to be replaced. The am,cd works but the fm channels do not. They said it was an internal problem. I dont know wheather to belive them or not but chances are that I might need one. Does anybody know where I can find one used for cheap besides ebay??? Is anybody willing to sell theres??????

Also, My memory seats don't function, no beep no nothing. My seats move in all directions manually but dont work with the memory button. Has anyone experinced this before? Can it be that my radio not working completely be the reason for the memory seats to fail. BTW. I bought the car like this so i dont know how long they both been broken. Any help PPPLLLEEAASEEEE.....

  5. I'm going to buy some wheels and tires for my '93 SC400 but need some advise. I see where people use the Tokico and eibach combo and its great and all but I see it leaves a bigger gap in the front than it does in the rear. I'm gonna have 245/35/19front and 275/30/19 on the rear. I know I will have to roll the febders alittle but what suspension set up will leave the car looking level and not have too much gap between the front tires and fenders. I'm not looking to slam it or have driving issues, just want it looking nice and clean. It's going to be a daily driver so I want a comfortable ride if thats even possible. I've been searching this forum but I'm kinda getting mixed reviews on a couple of setups. BTW, hows the TEIN BASICS compare to FLEX or CS? Any suggestions would be appreciated?

TEIN Basic gives you a pretty good ride and ofcourse more firmer than stock but over all good ride. The Basic can only be adjust height, the FLEX and CS can adjust height and Dampening. So Flex and CS is an excellent choice if u have the money, since you can a soft and lowered ride of your choice. Down side is that it cost alot. Most people would get the Basic since it cheaper and ride quality is fine. You also could get Tokico Illuminas Adj 5 set from the MKIV supra which fit perfect on our cars. It give you about a 2" drop front and 1.5" rear. Really slam your car and give u Dampening adjustable. I hope this help. Good luck

Thanks for all the help. BTW, what does the dampening do for a vehicle?

  7. My alarm is armed when I hit the lock button on the door.  The previous owner did not give me the master Lexus key (the one w/ the door open button).  He lost it, but had two regular Lexus keys.

I'm not sure about disarming the alarm when you insert a key in the door.  I don't remember exactly, but I believe there was an instance when I set off the alarm while I had opened the hood.  And the way I turned if off was to put the keys in the ignition (the windows were down, but when the alarm goes off, the doors will lock).

Cool..... Good info. I'm going to leave the windows down and lock the doors. After that I'll manually reach inside from the outside of the vehicle and try to open the door to see if it goes off. Anyway, the alrm won't go off if someone breaks the windows or hits the vehicle, but it will if someone opens any part of the car witout the key.

  8. I have a factory alarm on my car.  When armed, it goes off if the doors are opened w/o the use of a key (slim jimmed).  The locks will attempt to go back in the locked position.  I know, because I had to call AAA after I thought I had locked myself out of my car.

Also goes off if the hood were to be opened.  I think it also does the same for the trunk.

The factory alarm sucks though.  The alarm will not go off, if you break the window from what I've been told.  (This info is coming from a very reputable Lexus speciality shop here in LA)

    What year is you SC?

  9. Hi, I'm just wondering if there is a stock alarm built in my 1993 SC400. If so, how does it go off(whens someone breaks a window; open the door etc). Another question I have is, Are there any problems known for SC400's installing an aftermarket remote start and alarm combo. Also, which brands are good and is bestbuys and circuit city a good place to install them.

  10. I don't recommend mixing springs.

But if you must, you should know the particular spring rates.  You want spring rates that are similar.  If they are not similar, the ride and handling will definitely suffer.

My personal recommendation would be to save up for coilovers.  TEIN has an affordable entry level coilover from what I understand.  That will give you the height adjustment that you want.  Not only that, but since you are looking to replace your shocks, the TEIN coilover will provide a new shock that is matched w/ the spring rate.

    You'll be much happier w/ a coilover.

As far as other mods, much like any other reasonably supported aftermarket car...there are a few options available.  For more info, check out: www.intellexual.net

Wow thanx, So basically a coilover is a shock and spring put together. How much lower does it drop the vehicle or is it something you can adjust? also, whats the model name and wheres the best place to find them for a good price?

  11. Hi Sc Members, I have a interesting topic that I need some help on. I have a 1993 Sc400 stock, and want to start modding my vehicle. I have already purchased the tower strut bar(ebay), the wheels (Ruff racing 236 19x8.5 front and 19x9.5 rear) and tires(falken GRB FK-451 245/19/35 front and 275/19/30 rear) . I'm not putting the wheels on until I do a lowering mod. My questions are:

    1) Should I mix springs together to get that perfect look. I want to get the Eibach prokit for the rear which will lower it 1inch. I want the Espelir for the front which I think will lower it up to 2.14" or 55mm. The reason for this is, if I get the eibach all the way around the front, the front wheel gap looks bigger than the rear gap.

2)Should I replace my shocks all the way around since its never been changed. If so, which shocks ride the best for comfort. I see tokico is used alot on this forum but I just want to make sure it will work with the spring combinations.

    3) Are there any other suggestions as to what other little mods or things I can do to help the look of the vehicle(Bodykits, Brake rotors, etc).

I promise once I get finished I'm gonna post alot of before and after pics. I'm even thinking of doing a little mpeg video about it. Anyway, you guys are great as to alot of DIY and general info I found searching the forum. Thanks

  12. First, get a new coolant cap. Second, you need to bleed any air out of the cooling system. Start the car, turn on the A/C with heat on high and let the car run for 10 minutes. Leave the cap off for this. Add coolant as needed until full. Check coolant level next morning and add if necessary.

That sounds great. I will do it tonight for sure. Also, Where and what coolant should I buy and do I have to mix it with water or do anything special.

  13. You have great milage for a 93 sc400. You can do BFI and 2.25in x-pipe or straight pipe and get magnaflow exhuast. This is the common things to do for SC4 owners. But any aftermarket exhuast is always louder than our stock keep that in mind. With these mods you have some Hp boost but IMO not much to pack a punch.

So I probably wont be able to tell the difference huh? I might just leave it stock then but then again I might end up doing it. I did a search on BFI in this forum and it gets very good credit. I read and saw on how to install the BFI. I'm just really not the handy type and I know this forum dislikes injen so i will probably do the exhaust unless you all recommend another intake. Is the magnaflow the way to go because I see alot of people do the borla exhaust.I know any exhaust will be louder but I really want to keep it on the quite side.

  14. I have a 1993 SC400 with about 67k and is very well maintained and serviced. I've noticed that my coolant light has been blinking on then off evry now and then. I checked the coolant resovour under the hood and its full. what does this mean

Have you found the solution yet? I'm having the same problem.

no not yet, but i'm going to fill up the coolant next week to see if that solves the problem. I'll report back when its done and let you know.

  15. Hey gang, I have a 1993 Sc400 with about 68k and all stock except for the strut tower bar under the the hood. I would like to gain some Hp but I really don't want to do anything extensive. I've been reading the forum and see that the typical intake and exhaust is the thing to do I guess. My question is..... Are there any other little mods i can do to gain some more hp. Also, what intake and exhaust are the best for a '93. I really don't like the exhaust to be loud. Just like it to have alittle HHMMMM to it.

P.S. I've seen some intakes and exhaust systems on ebay. Should i stay away from them. Any info is really appreciated.

  16. A lot of people seem to be having coolant light problems lately.

When was the last time you had the coolant replaced?  Any other items replaced lately?  Any coolant drips on the floor in the morning?

Had my radiator changed in sept '04 and i see no coolant leaks nor smell any coolant in the engine compartment. My coolant resevoiur is about an inch from being filled to the top. Does it need to reach the very top of the line?

I know in my car when I had the wrong mixture in it, the coolant would boil out of the top and into the coolant resivour. When the car is cool check the radiator itself and make sure its full, if its not put a mixture of 50/50 coolant and water into it.

Alright, I'll try to fill it to the very top tomorrow. Thanx people.
