Thank you, AO.  May I ask which dealer? Were you satisfied with the price and service?

It was Lugoff Toyota in Lugoff South Carolina. Price was a bit high but I knew that going in, $1300 ish if I remember correctly, and they did a nice quick clean job, yes I was very satisfied with them.

OOps, I just noticed you were asking people in Michigan the question, Lugoff might be to far! 😁

Yes, that's definitely a good possibility. I repaired my stereo cover and when I finished, my HVAC unit did not work, nor the top. No light, no nothing. I took the unit out again and to my relief, had found I didn't push two connectors in all the way.  I have no other suggestions, hope you sort it out.

    Thanks..

Have you checked the fuses? Did the previous owner install a back-up cam? Does the nav screen work? Maybe they removed the plug for the nav screen to install the Pioneer stereo unit. There seems to be a few possibilities.

The only fuse I could find that had anything to do with it was listed as "Tv/navigation" and I think it was #29 in the passenger side kick panel and that 5amp fuse was fine. Yes there is a backup cam. I pulled the climate control out and all plugs were there and plugged in. No as far as I know the nav screen doesn't work, seems like all the buttons on top of the climate control are dead.
Is there another plug somewhere that I'm missing? Or a different fuse?

  4. Ok, I have a 2004, before I bought it the previous owner changed the Radio out for a nice Pioneer with all the goodies, back up cam, car play, Sirius ready, Bluetooth,  bla bla bla BUT, the nav door doesn't function. The nav unit is in there, I pushed the door up part way to see, it has a 2013 disc in the unit in the trunk, no Idea if it works and not sure I care. I have nave through my phone that works through the radio. I really want to get that door operational and to see what works and what doesn't.
Seems all the buttons on the top of the climate control are dead, I did pull it out and all the plugs back there are plugged in, so that's ok I guess but it still doesn't seem to be getting power. I have a full set of Lexus shop manuals but I can't find any reference as to the nav door or power to those buttons!
Anyone have any idea on where to start?

Tip: You can extend the range of your opener by adding a 6-12 inch long wire (crimp or soldered) to the garage door opener antennae.

And where would I find this garage door opener antenna?

I’ve recently bought a 2008 sc430 and begrudgingly replaced the Mark Levenson sound system.  My question is the upper nav screen has the added ability to record maintenance records.  Unfortunately, this car has outlived that record keeping calendar.  Is there an upgrade for this system and if so, how do I obtain this software?

thanks in advance for any information,

    Rusty

So I bought my 2004 and the radio had already been changed out and the nav door won't open, trying to figure out how to get it working again.

Are there currently annual shows/rallies for SC's?  If not, would Black Mountain, NC be a place that folks would be interested in trying?  I have a second owner 2003 with 67K.

I am by Kershaw SC, you might talk me into traveling to Black Mountain. A get together might be fun!

I can’t get the lights to the center console and the light in the ash tray to light up.  Checked the fuse and it’s good.  I suspect the dimmer switch is bad.  I have a wiring diagram coming  but this problem is perplexing  me.  I have changed the bulbs and no joy.  Any ideas where to look would be very helpful.

Hmmm, I didn't realize we had any lights in the console.

Do not take cars there, only mountain bikes.

That means that there is even less use for the old stiff tyres that can continue driving without air in them. Some premium tyres have self-sealing layer inside and are giving a comfortable close to no noise ride.

I have a brand new set of Michelin Pilot run flats on my SC, they work and handle fine, no noise issue at all.

This picture should prove that a good sealant is worth having (not the one standard in Lexus cars):

Riding on trails where cacti and thorns are all over the place I sometimed had more than 5 holes in the tyres. Did not find out till I was home, as the holes were sealed immediately and almost no air loss.

As long as we are not politicians or (other) criminals, the hard old fashioned run-flat tyres are completely overkill.

You take your SC430 off road?

I recently had the run flat tires removed from my '06 sc 430 and since the car cam with run flats, no temporary donut was provided. I have seen a few with the donut in the slot in the trunk but I need to know the tire size I need to purchase. I know the pattern is 5 holes  4 1/2 inch (114) between holes but that's all. Place to purchase and tire size info would be appreciated. Thanks Phil  ( ubrokeifix@aol.com)

    Just google spare for a 2006 SC430

If you mean a spare wheel, I am happy not to have one. Have been using Quadboss sealant on mountain bike riding on razorblade-sharp lava splitter and thorns as long as fingers plus beautiful pointy cactus all around have kept me riding and I never had to walk home because of a flat.

A bottle in the trunk and an electric pump should handle more than 90% of flats. I used to buy from Quadboss but they are no longer selling to end-users so you will have to buy from one of the companies selling the sealant. A good thing about the sealant is that you can wash it away with just water.

Before I found Quadboss I used the dirty stuff latex that Lexus/Toyota have in their sealant and get that in and it will take a week to get the glue off the rims. Got latex on riding clothes and impossible to get away so new clothes needed.

I have a plug kit and a small compressor I used to carry on my Harley, but if and when I get rid of my run flats I too will track down a spare for this guy!

Since this tread started in 2009 tyres have been through some evolution and now you can have tyres with self-sealing layer inside so the rather stiff tyres that were made for armed vehicles long ago have competition where comfort is no longer missing.

The UltraContact we have on the CT are so much better (consume - handling – noise level) than the OEM tyres from factory that I can only believe that Lexus prefer Japanese tyres because they get them cheap or they are Japanese.

    Makes sense!

That saddle color interior makes for a sharp combo with the red. I'm all in for keeping it stock for the fact the designers went out and broke their usual parameters with this car for a pretty specific product and I think everything about the car says that.

We looked for quite a while to find the color combo we liked. Upon initial research we were looking for a 2006 or newer for the upgrades they had made but found out that after 2005 the Absolute Red was no longer available. We did not want a black interior due to the heat inside with the top down, we had just sold a Honda S2000 with the black interior and it cooked us whenever the top was down. Also didn't like the Ecru interior, the seats were fine but the carpet in the cars we looked at was always soiled looking due to the very light color. When we saw this combo we were sold, had to drive 500 miles to get it but it was worth it to us.

And yes, stock works for us too! Heck it's even got brand new set of run flats on it, and to me they seem fine. Telling the wife the other day how well it tracked going down the road! Really liking this new old little car!

Yes, what you say makes sense, but I like the idea of keeping it as close to stock as possible to keep the dynamics built into the design remains.

I'm going to agree with you, I wouldn't mind some new chrome wheels, these painted silver stockers don't do much for me. But I personally would stick with stock size as I like the way this car looks and handles.
