4 weeks ago had my 2003 RX300 2wd with 188k miles in to Lexus dealer. Replaced timing belt/water pump/oil change. Said some oil leaking from valve covers/oil pans/rear main seal. Said should be no problem, just keep an eye on oil levels, which I had been doing. No noticeable smell at all before their work. Had to take it back 2 weeks later noted sudden strong oil/plastic smell and chirp coming from water pump side. Adjusted pump belt. Now saying oil leaks from valve covers/oil pans/rear main seal hitting exhaust and $4K to seal everything. I know you have to pull motor to get to rear main and but what about the upper oil pan? Do you have to pull the motor to replace the seal?
