it doesnt matter if you have the backup camera...

i'm the one that posted these directions and everything will work fine. there have been MANY people on this board that have done it with success.

i have personally done it to my car and i have the backup camera and everything works perfect.

i'm glad that this thread has gotten so much attention as this is by far the best modification you can do to your car.

if you have the Mark Levinson system then yes you can play dvds directly through the 6 cd in-dash player. simply load your dvds just like a normal music cd.

also the parking brake has to be on and the car has to be in park. there is way around that but involves cutting wires behind the navigation screen. check out www.clublexus.com if your interested. there is a whole pinned thread that i have started detailing the instructions!

as for your other question bout the rear view camera. there is currently no way to hook up a switch to control the rear camera. i believe someone is workign on that right now though.

Keep it away from other cars. I always park mine all the way in the back of a parking lot, no matter how far away it is.

i'm pretty sure they dont make anything that covers the door without it being noticeable. but i could be wrong.

Hey gs430 from glendale.... Can we talk about the dark tail lights you have??? Cant find them online... Where did you get them?  I live in west hills.... would you do the dvd navi kill thing for me.  dont want to drive down to that guy in westsminster...

I have a 1996 GS and I was wondering will 245/45/18 fit on my car without rubbing of should I stay with 245/40/18?  The wheels are 18 X 8.  Enkei Aegis.  Thanks!

i'm running 20s with 235/45/20 and they dont rub at all on my 06 GS. i dont see why those tires would rub at all...

Hey guys, is it possible to put no money down on a loan? For example, $29,000 over 72 monthes. Or do you always have to put something down. I have been calling places and they are giving me all kinds of answers. Assuming i have great credit. Thanks in advance.

its always possible to put $0 down, however you'll probably get a higher interest rate meaning higher montly payment.

no no no, dont worry about that. we're not tricking the Navigation system, were tricking the car's safety features.    The car's navigation will always be online, will always autoreroute, everything is fine, its just the CAR thinks its in park, NOT the navigation.

This is right on the money! Everything still works perfectly and you wont even be able to tell that a mod has been done till you pop in a movie!

Tha nav will still track your car driving down the road.

Hi - just wanted to thank blue06gs for the great bypass for dvd and dialing.  only took bout an hour goin slow and it works absolutely perfect. no one should be hesistant to try this bypass.  good luck and thanks!

I would check out Soundwerx in Scottsdale. They do really good work there, i dont know what the phone number is or the exact address, but they're located on Scottsdale Rd and Thomas Rd in Scottsdale.

I'm not that familar with the Glendale/Peoria area but you may want to check out www.dexonline.com and search that area.

blue 06- Instead of letting it get you down on the board, next time you see someone posting the way Costanza did just send SK or me a PM and we'll take care of it. As you can see, we don't put up with that kinda BS here but we need to be made aware of the issues so that we can take care of them.

Thanks SW03ES, the reason i said that was because I also got bashed when i posted pics of my car awhile back.

Dont get me wrong, I understand not everyone is going to like the mods people do to their cars, but they could say it in a nicer way or dont post at all.

Constructive criticism is ok but straight bashing is uncalled for.

As for wheels, suggestions would be easier with a budget range and style preference.  Also, are you planning to drop the car a little.  I think you should, especially if you are going to 18s. :)

I agree with Neo, if your planning on going to 18s, you should lower the car. I wasn't a fan of changing the suspension on these cars, but i am definately glad that i lowered mine (2006 GS). i love the way it looks and handles now. I gotta say that it was due in part to Neo.. :P

hey, my friend just had his 60k service done on his 2001 GS at the lexus dealership here and he paid $750 i think...he also had a 15% off coupon that one of the sales people gave him.

BTW...nice ride! I saw your Lexo when i was going up to someones house that lives a block from you. I saw your car sitting rimmed up and was like Whoa! I was gonna check 'em out but didnt want anyone one to come up gunz blazin! ha ha ha.

i kind of have the same problem. and my friend also had a similar problem in his 2001 GS. he reset the ECU by disconnecting the battery cable for about 15 minutes. supposedly this is supposed to reset the computer and relearn your driving style. i'm going to try it on my 2006 gs this weekend.

looks sick!! i've always liked black rims on black cars...i didn't think black rims would look good with my blue GS, thats why i got them painted to match...

How is the handling on the GS430. I read a few reviews and they say that the car handles well but the VDIM thing comes in the way. Do you feel this way?

I actually have the GS300 and i love it....im still back and forth on whether i shouldve gotten the 430, but then again, i still haven't test drove the 430.

i never even got to test drive my 300 before i bought it since i ordered it before they were even out and picked it up at the port right off the boat!!

what 06gs430 described is the best way to override the input addresses portion of the nav.

i dont see a point of spending $100 on a kit....

hey thx for all the compliments guys. i'm really happy with the way everything turned out.

1. what rims are on there right now? if you have other rims besides those 17s i wouldn't worry bout replacing the rubber on them. just give them the rims with the bad tires. they'll be happy to get another set of rims anyways. if you really want to replace the rubber, get some cheapo tires and put them on there....you can get 17" tires for like $60/each

2. get the rotors machined..

-- make sure the car is clean throughout (even the engine bay)...first impression on a car is everythign!

What percent of tint do you have on your windows?  I was looking on superbuytires website and they recommend 255/35 for 20's, is there a reason you went with 245/35?

I have limo tint on the back three windows and one shade lighter on the front two windows and no tint on the windshield, althought i'm planning on getting the windshield done too.

Theres no reason I went with the 245 tires. At the time I was buying them they told me that those were the only ones that would fit. next time i'll go with the 255

they have to prove that the mods you added aftermarket are the DIRECT cause for whichever problem you are having.

They can't just simply say that a problem wont be covered because of your aftermarket parts unless they can prove that thats what caused the issue.

its an actual federal law but dont know the law number or anything...i'll try to find it and the exact wording they use.
