  1. Resolution: When the steering column was pulled for repair, there was a second jury rigged immobilization unit cross-wired inside the column with two wiring harnesses. When it was reupholstered last month, they found the original key inside the drivers seat. The steering wheel mechanic guesses they jury rigged it to use another key. Conclusion - The steering wheel wand on the car is the incorrect wand. I had it replaced and auto-cruise can now be disabled as described in the manuals.
  2. Additional Info: FYI - The car is a CL (Custom Luxury) with laser cruise control, verified by glass laser unit mounted in passenger lower bumper. The laser adaptive cruise works as advertised with no errors. FYI2 - I would be happy to have a permanently disabled adaptive cruise control, and this would eliminate the need for a wand with a "MODE" motion. 3. I just purchased a 2006 LS430 on Tuesday. I have figured out most things I was curious about, but I want to use the cruise control in "Normal" mode. I checked in the Quick Guide (page 30) and in the Lexus LS430 2003-2006 Factory Repair Manual (page 2447). In the second, the wand is clearly shown pressing towards the dash and has "MODE" in a black-outlined box labeled on the wand behind "Cancel", which pulls forward. My Cruise Wand does not move towards the dash and it does not have the "MODE" box label behind "Cancel". Should it (have the "MODE" label)? Should it move towards the dash? Perhaps my wand was replaced?
