  1. Issue was preamp in The old unit - parts to repair were not available so new changer unit was ordered and installed. Total cost including installation was $672. Works great
  2. Will do. This shop actually could repair the unit If they could get the individual parts, but they are only available as part of a larger whole. They expect delivery within a week and I will post a follow up.
  3. Clarification : confirmed that the shop is ordering a brand new unit from the manufacturer that they will install in my unit. $675 is total including all work and diagnostics.
  4. Took to local shop. Diagnosed bad preamp said best option is new unit. Will come with 1 year warranty for total just under $680. Not certain if “new” means new old stock or remanufactured but seems reasonable based on cost of remanufactured units with warranty that I see on line. Thoughts?
  5. Today I checked fuses, found a cassette tape to test the cassette player, and disconnected the negative battery cable for 3 minutes. No luck. Radio and cassette player work normally, only the CD player is playing through only one channel. Before I start pulling things apart To check connections I thought I would ask the group if there is anything I might be missing. By the way, this is an Ultra Luxury with NAV system. Thanks.
  6. My apologies - posted this originally in the wrong forum. Levinson stereo performs as expected playing the radio or music through a bluetooth adapter that plays through the FM radio. However, CDs are playing only in the right channel - left channel appears to be dead. Has anyone experienced this issue? Thanks.
  7. Had not used the CD Player in a while. Radio aa well as music played through a bluetooth adapter play as expected through the system. However - the CDs are now playing through the right channel only. Left channel appears to be dead. Seems to me the amp is ok because the radio plays fine in both the right and left channels. Has anyone experienced this? Could it be a connection, or something in the CD Player itself? Thanks!
  8. Installed a new speaker in my front door and was running the sound system at volume to check for rattles. Ran less than 5-10 minutes when it cut out, nav display went blank and it was dead. Hooked up a battery charger. After 10 minutes I was able to start the car and I was back in business. Does the system pull that much current or do I have a bad battery? I had it checked 2 weeks ago during service and they told me the battery checked out fine. Car seems ti start fine now, as well Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.
  9. I had this happen after a battery check was done. The Lexus logos would come up as usual but no nav or backup camera. If memory serves I did have climate control and something else. Turned out there here was a 7.5A fuse that blew in the panel in the floor of the trunk. I am told that one of the first things to do with an electronics issue is check all of the fuses because everything is so interconnected.
  10. Hello all, new to forum but not new to Lexus/Toyota. Have a pretty good mechanical background. I am the new owner of my parents’ 2004 LS430UL. They bought it new, and it has 83k miles. All service was done at the Lexus dealer until Mom moved here 3-4 years ago when she began using a very good Lexus specialist. It has been driven about 1500 miles in the past 18 months or so. I’m going to keep it - it’s value is in driving, I think, because the retail value just doesn’t seem like enough for the car I’ve changed all of the filters, including the underseat filters and have replaced trunk & hood struts. Oil service will happen with the timing belt service it is obviously time for a timing belt/water pump service. Should I consider a preventative replacement of the radiator as that is done? A cooling system flush has been suggested. I’ve generally not been a fan of those but is there any comment, pro or con? it also has the air suspension. It seems to be working fine and offers an incredibly smooth quiet ride. The rear feels a bit bouncy to me at times, as if shock absorbers were worn (if it had shock absorbers) but that may just be how the car rides. Opinions are welcome. I would like to hear your thoughts about any other items that deserve attention due to the age of the car and because it has been mostly sitting for the past 2-3 years. thanks in advance for your help. Thanks.
