  1. I'm thinking about install a basslink into my RX400h. I wonder how do you run the wire from the battery to the basslink? I was looking for the firewall hole in the engine compartment but couldn't find anything. The battery on the RX400h is located on the passenger side and the fuse box is located on the driver side. Do I follow the wire cord on the fuse box or the battery side? Do I need to remove the rubber firewall in order to run the wire through it or just make a hole through the rubber? Once I got the wire through the firewall, where will it be located inside the vehicle? At the bottom of the carpet? Do I need to remove anything in order to see the wire from the firewall inside the car? Once I got the power line hooked up to the basslink, where do I tap it into? The speaker line or the level line of my rear speakers? I don't have to mess with my factory amp since the basslink already got a built in amp right? Thank you

  2. IM PLANNING ON CHANGING MY ROTORS ON MY 99 GS 300 AND I KNOW HOW TO TAKE THE FRONT ONES OUT BUT I HAD A QUESTION ABOUT THE REAR ONES, IS THERE GOING TO BE ANY DIFFERENCE IN THE WAY THEY COME OUT OR ANY SPECIAL TRICKS? PLEASE LET ME KNOW AS SOON AS ANYONE CAN,

THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!! AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

im going to replace the rear pad on my gs3 too, how did it goes? how did you take the caliper off, it look a little different fromt he front. any body have pic of how to change it? thanks

  3. Hoping some of the folks here may be able to help.

I have a 2006 GX470 with KDSS and less than 6,000 miles. It has had an unidentified interior noise (UIN) since I received the vehicle new in November.

It is a "hmm hmm hmm" sound. (kind of like a vibrating washing machine sound) It only happens in the 65-75MPH range. And only when giving it gas. Let off the gas, sound goes away. Give it gas, it comes back. It is pretty loud, as you can hear it over the radio. You get about 2 "hmm" beats per second. Frequency doesn't change depending on speed or RPM. Sounds like it is coming from the middle to rear of the vehicle, but not 100% sure.

It is louder when it is cold outside (30 degrees). But it never goes away even when the vehicle warms up. I have driven it 200 miles at a stretch, and the sound never goes away.

If I shift from D to 4, it goes away.

I have taken it to the Lexus dealership twice and they can find nothing wrong with it. So I am wondering if anyone else here has a 470 with a similar issue?

Any advice that I might be able to take back to my dealer would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    Greg

my car was having the same noise for a long time, i brought to the dealer 4 times but they didn't identify the problem. i finally fixed it my self, what happened was the cross bar on the roof was loosing real bad and i tight it up and problem went away. hope that the same problem you have
  4. I just gota letter from lexus saying that they have had complaints about 04 models and late 05 models which have bad radiators in low low climate. Just thought id share this. They are not gonna replace it now. They are just extending the warranty to 7 years or 90K and then changing it for free.

I also got the letter in the mail. I called my dealer today and give them my vin# and they told me there is no recall on this vehicle. Is this means that they will only replace the radiator if it leaks? I want them to replace it so i don't have to worry about it. does any one had it replace even the radiator it's not leaking? thanks

  5. I am a Katrina vicitim, and i need to buy a vehicle in the next few weeks.  I am hesitant to go with the gx470 b/c of gas mileage.  I know in 2005 the toyota version of variable timing came into play.  I think officially, the mpg are different among the years.

Also, i really want a dark grey or black interior.  Can i get that in 03.  Let me ask a better question....are there any disadvatages going with an 03 compared to a 04 or 05?? THANK!

go to lexus.com and look under certified pre-owned for model library for details on each year model. good luck

  6. The low tire inflation warning light lit up a few days ago and is staying on. I checked the tire pressure in all 4 tires "Cold" with a gauge and they were 32-34 PSI.  Anyone else have this problem? (and what did you do?) :(

it did happen to me once before and i brought it to the dealer and they reset it. they didn't tell me what happen with it but...good luck

  7. the ac compressor is goin out, i had the same problem last year, it works fine now i never had it fixed, but now i think its startin to go out again, i was drivin last night and all the AC blew was hot air, so i guess im gonna have to get that fixed.

*edit* i think it may also mean maybe the compressor just needs a new clutch, all i know is when my dad and I took it to the lexus dealer, the cost after labor and all that was gonna be like 2500 to fix, so he was like, uhh...lol the end of this story is i still have a broken AC

sorry to hear that, your car is 96' model and a/c compressor is broken. that's scare me now, that's a lot of money to fix it. my is 99' model

  8. Talked with the Tech yesterday --  He told me have had others come in

with a similar noise.   From what we tell him, he thinks it is a wind issue.

When Cross wind hit the vehicle just right blowing under it  could affect

the cabin pressure flappers in the back.   Seems there are some flapper

that allow the interior pressure to be release when a door is shut.

I give this a maybe since at times I do not hear the noise.  Its intermittant.

Ask about the tire (Dunlops) but didnt think that could be the issue or

would hear it all the time.

They did put it up on the lift and did some looking but nothing apparent.

It could also be some of the plastic panels (cladding) that vibrates when

    air hits just right.

So its another Lexus mystery but not a unusual one

Just put 500 miles on the GX -- There is some kind of noise coming from the

rear area.  Not the clunk.  It sounds like something loose, maybe some

plastic parts are the cause since only notice it at speed.  Its going in

wednesday to have another item checked out so may see if they can put

it up on the lift and just look

hey SilverGX, i think i have the same noise as you. i brought it in twice but they can't find what wrong with it. let me know what they find out in your car. thanks

I think the noise we have is because of the wind. when the car is at about 70-80 mph you can hear the noise sometimes if the wind hit at the right spot. at first i thought it because of the rear right fender but i tested it so many times and i don't think it's the fender. oh well, we might have to stuck with this noise, hopefully one day it'll just go away.
