  1. hi. i regularly take care and maintain a friends 99 GS400 and well lately there is vibration in the steering wheel at about 60, anything above or below it doesnt do it. could that be a suspension issue or a tire issue?

My ride does the same thing. A 99 GS400. My best guess is that the guy who owned it before me and dropped it, never had it realigned after that. If you drop your ride, you should have an alignment done. Usually your camber is off a little and you will get that vibration b/w about 60-70 mph. Take a look at your rubber. It is probably pre-maturely wearing on the insides. Have a good shop do an alignment and this SHOULD take care of your prob.

I am planning on riding this set of rubber out and getting an alignment done after my new tires. Does anyone know if this is hard on steering/suspension, etc.? Plus I am having a little squeaking noise coming from my right front when going over bumps and dips. Is this most likely a strut issue? Thanks in advance for any help.

  2. Here's a short video of my GS400 with Carson Tuned exhaust, SRT intake and Precision Industries torque converter.  Probably irrelevent to you but the sound is great on the CT exhaust w/srt intake on the GS400.Video

That is bad !Removed!.... Your ride sounds very similar to mine but a little more throaty probably because of your intake. I have Blitz Nur Spec full sys. exhaust and lowered with eibachs and some wider, stickier rubber/wheels. I don't have the intake or the TC. I was wondering..... Are you breaking loose b/c of that TC. I have to turn off Trac cont. and be in power and still have to power brake to break loose off the line. In the video, I noticed that you let off brake before or at the same time as slamming on the pedal. I'm a big fan of GS videos. If you have any more, please post.

    Dis my ride:

  3. That car is very nice, as well as the NSX in the garage and the M3 next to the GS.  I also couldn't help but notice the cop car in the first pic.  Myabe he has something to say about when you saw smoke in the rear view?:pirate:

Thank you.... the other two cars belong to the org. owner of the GS. Those pix are at his house in FL before I drove it away. The cop car belongs to the brother of the owner. He stopped by to say hi to the GS's new owner while he was on duty. He did have some nice rides and a nice place too. I have now taken one of his nice rides away.... It was a long trip from FL to Kansas City too but let me be the first to tell you, that was the smoothest, longest, straight-through trip I have EVER taken besides maybe a plane.

Your lex still runnin strong after 130k? That will be reassuring news if that is the case. I have heard great, great things about these cars.

  4. haha  a ticket for going 120? never heard of n e one getting away with just a ticket didnt take u downtown or anything? just how much was the ticket n e ways just curious lol

I got a ticket for 122 in a 70 a few years back in my first 5.0 GT Mustang. If he were a little further down the highway he would have got me just over 130 cuz I never saw him (so never slowed down) until he was behind me about two minutes later on the same highway after I slowed back down to 75. Should of hit the exit.... Ain't that a !Removed!... My ticket was for $240!

  5. New to the board... Just thought I'd say hello! I bought my GS400 in March of this year and I love it to death. Truly, a driver's car! It is a 1999 with 50k. The car has Eibach Lowering Springs, Blitz Nur Spec full system exhaust and a set of 18" OZ Wheels (front 18 x 9 , rear 18 x 9.5) It is in almost perfect condition.

    Here are a couple pix.

I haven't had any problems so far other than one I "may" have caused on my own. I was wondering if anyone had any similar experiences. I maintained a fairly high speed (+100 mph) for a good 15 min and then, out of nowhere, this exit ramp to a long and straight highway approaches so I have to take it. At this point, I stomp my foot to the floor and hit just over 140 mph and I hold this speed for less than a minute when I notice a little bit of smoke in my rear view mirror. (Oh, *BLEEP*@!@!@) I pull over at the next exit and get out and open all doors and hood but only see smoke coming from right under the car about where the seats sit. It didn't smell like an overheat (temp. gauge was fine too) or rubber so my only two thoughts are I fried the cats or all the gaskets for the aftermarket exhaust system.

Any input would be much appreciated.

    TIA

  6. Rattle up front on the passenger side.  Even over the slightest bump/crack in the road.  Dealer can't find but think it might be the ball joints, since there's some play there.

I am having the exact same issue. I work at a dealership and no one can seem to find prob. Please advise if you have found out any additional information.

    TIA
