Nolansc

My car won't start. Turned the car on and it ran for about ten seconds and cut off. Now it will make a small one second attempt to turn on but does nothing. The radio fan etc works fine. Brand new battery. Tried jumping it but nothing. Towed it to the Toyota place and after a grand, they suggested a steering column Amd ecu replacement. What do you guys think? Any suggestion?
