Alright, so I acquired an RX 400h 2008 model recently and decided to upgrade to LED turn signals.
Read through this thread, me as well as the TS doesn't like resistors. I've used them and don't like the heat. All personal preference as with anyone posting their thoughts on an internet forum.
Anyways, a bit back and forth here between resistors or a LED flasher, decided to go ahead with the LED flasher first and see if it worked in an acceptable way. The switch didn't even take 2 minutes, a little fiddling with with the cable clip and voila the LED flasher was hooked up. Switched out all rear and front bulbs to CREE 30W LED's.
Did it make a difference? Hell yeah, I would say about 3x brighter than stock bulbs and no hyper-flashing. The TS had mentioned two issues in regards to the LED flasher, lock/unlock flash/flashing confirmation missing and a blackout delay in starting of the flashing sequence. Well the first issue is nothing I'm experiencing, the lock/unlock flash/flashes work just fine. The second one is slightly different, when initiating the sequence there is no start lag, it lights up immediately. However the first flash stays lit about 1/2 second longer than the regular flashing pattern, not a big concern to me but if you're an perfectionist sure.. The regular flashing pattern then works fine and consistent.
So all in all, the small "flaw" in the first flash is the only quirk. The installation of the relay took 2 minutes and the bulbs about 5 minutes, to me this is a better deal than drilling the body to fix hot resistors. As stated earlier this is personal preference, both solutions work just fine.
