  1. The LX570 owners manual provides instruction for changing the bulbs in the outer tail light assembly, but says to have a Lexus dealer service light bulbs in the inner tail light assembly. It's not that difficult to do yourself with a 10mm socket and a T25 Torx driver. Begin by removing the large rubber bumper on the bottom of the upper lift gate on the side to be serviced -- this requires the removal of 2 10mm bolts. Then remove the small Torx head screws that hold the arrow metal cover strip in place (this strip wraps around the corner of the lift gate). You can get by removing only 5 of them, beginning at the rubber bumper. (There's also a small plastic cap of questionable function that will pop off by itself.) Under this cover strip are 3 bolt heads that are actually cap nuts, located at the 3 outside corners of the light assembly. Remove these with the 10mm socket. There's a fourth hidden fastener on the fourth corner of the light assembly that's a pop-in/pop-out type. Pull gently on the light assembly and it will pop out. Disconnecting the wire harness at the connector makes the light assembly easier to work on. Once the defective bulb is replaced, perform the steps in reverse to re-assemble.
