Regarding having a locksmith replace the inner lock cylinder, my assumption is that you would have to remove the lock cylinder first and bring it to them. I have seen the diagram outlining how to remove it and it looks pretty daunting. In the case of your daughter's car, was the locksmith able to remove/replace the lock cylinder? -
