  1. I cleaned my battery connectors (with Tilex ;-) ) and the problem went away! Thanks anyways... It appears the root cause is nothing but the white powder like stuff built on my battery connector!
  2. :( I had experienced the exact same problem this morning on my '98 LS400... wonder if you had your problem fixed? I'm pretty sure my battery is less than 2 years old.
  3. How did your timing belt replacement go? Mine just failed on my 98. Failed in the garage-engine made lots of noise, I shut it off immediately, then it wouldn't start at all....sounds like a slipped tooth. Any recommendation-I am 100 miles from Atlanta-no closer dealers except Birmingham, AL. Tom ← Tom, I haven't had my timing belt replaced yet - my car is still under 100K miles and I plan to do it at 100K... However, I recently found a shop claims they can replace my timing belt and water pump for ~$650. It's J&M Auto Center on Buford Hwy, in Norcross, GA (770-246-1004) Maybe you can give them a try? I'm afraid it's probably too far away from you... Another dealer, Lexus of South Atlanta, quoted a much better price (I don't remember exactly how much now) than the dealer closer to me. But, when I e-mail them to confirm that, they never respond. Good luck! Bob
  4. E-mail worked! After several e-mail exchanges with Lexus Cust Service, I took my RX300 to the dealer this morning. I showed them a print out of e-mail and a copy of the TSB, the service dept. manager told me immediately that they will apply "Goodwill" for me and repair it for free. However, I still paid $108 for 4-wheels alignment - which is needed for my RX300 anyway... (I believe someone posted in another thread that alignment should be covered with this work, but... I'm already happy for paying nothing on a $400+ job - especially I don't use dealers for my regular maintenance ;) ). The noise is gone!
  5. Thanks for the replies - I will try to e-mail customer_satisfaction_inquiries@lexus.com first and see what knid of response I'll get... Any promise over the phone can be conveniently denied at later time since there is no proof.
  6. Hello, My 99 RX300 is having the problem described in TSB SU002-99: Front Suspension Support - Noise. My dealer told me since it's not a recall and I don't have my regular maintenance (oil change) at their dealership, they are not going to fix it for free (or out of "goodwill"). Obviuosly, my warranty has expired (but my car has only 51K miles)... I intend to write Lexus USA an e-mail and copy to BBB or some kind of consumer protection org. for help - I think there are enough people having this problem and Lexus should fix it at no cost to the owners. In addition, this is a design flaw after all! Please post the e-mail address for Lexus USA if you knew it. Thanks in advance for the information.
  7. Timing Belt (& water pump) replaced soon. I live in Atlanta area and one dealer quoted me "A little more than $1000", a local repair shop quoted $900 (both include parts + labor). Anyone can recommand a good, honest, and experienced dealer/shop in Atlanta area can do the job for less price? ;) Thanks!
