  1. OK after doing research and pulling hairs I found the location. It is the line going to the Vapor Pressure Sensor; which is over $200. The nipple cracked and it is stuck in the hose. It's no wonder that mechanic didn't tell me. They didn't want to pay for that part . . . so they were hoping I wouldn't notice. Advice to other awesome lexus owners of "older/classic" models. . . check your vacuum lines and rubber hoses. Your car will love you for it. Have an awesome and productive 2023... God bless you all.
  2. Do your research of the specific model that you are interested in. Pay that extra dollars to have a mechanic look at that car. I have 2 es300's. I never did swear at my Lexus. I swear often at my BMW and Honda. The es models are "more advanced" than their cousin, the Camry. They may share the same engine and frame, however it ends there.
  3. My best advice, actually from more experienced owners. Never purchase those struts with the springs already installed. I was a fool to do that. The ride and the durability is terrible after only a month. Buy KYB's or do your research. Keep the original springs and have someone install the springs to the struts if you're doing the installation yourself. As one website stated, only use those ready-to-install struts and springs when you are ready to sell your car. lol
  4. Just wanted to share my experience. I installed those Monroe struts and springs already installed. they worked for a few months. That's all. It started to bottom out. The best advice is to use KYB or stock struts. They are expensive; however, our Lexus is a quality car. Don't you think our car deserves quality products? Get a quality strut by doing little research. Use the original springs. You're Lexus will love you. And you will love your Lexus even more.
  5. They both have different engines and transmissions and of course other things. My '98 has been an angel as compared to my coworker's '01. Coworker's trans needed to be fixed due to slipping gears. Many complaints from my coworker. I am to blame because I told my coworker that my '98 is perfect. Did a research online and discovered that the '01 has more complaints than the '98.
  6. Did you solve your problem? I want to purchase an aftermarket head unit too. Reading the information of the new unit, there is a ground wire that the original harness doesn't have. They suggest to ground that wire to the body. Hope this helps.
