  1. I have sought feed back on the issue of gas mileage in a previous post. My mileage is very low. I calculated my mileage the old fashion way thinking perhaps the computer was wrong. I was partially correct. The computer reading was high by one-half a gallon.

Around town, consisting of mainly short trips, sometimes only one or two miles, my wife has been getting 12-13 mpg. Yesterdays highway trip registered about 23 mpg. The EPA numbers for my AWD drive are 18-25.

Does anybody have a view on whether the city mileage, resulting from admittedly short trips at less than ideal operating temperatures, is within the normal range or should be discussed with my dealer.

  2. My wife has a new 2004 RX330 which we bought in September and since then drives around town almost exclusively, and then on mostly short trips . Gas mileage based on the computer (which may not accurately record the results) has been as low as 10.5 miles/gallon. On the upside, it can be as high as 13. The few long trips we have taken result in a better and more acceptable average of around 25 miles/gallon.

Does anyone who only drives short distances have similarily bad results? I am planning to take the car back to the dealer to investigate but would first like to know if others are experiencing equally poor mileage.

  3. I just bought a lexus 99 Rx 300 with 88000 miles. I am getting about around 15.5 miles/gallon. I drive about 60% on highways. Isn't this a little less? Is there anything I can do to improve the gas consumption. I think my driving style is not bad, I get pretty good gas consumption on my other car. Let me know if I can do anything, thanks in advance.

  4. Just got my 05 RX 330, and am sure that it will do better than my 01 RX 300 , but how much?  Our old 01 awd got around 19 to 20 mpg running 75 to 80 mph on trips, and 16 to 17 mpg in town. Although our new 05 RX is a 2wd, I would also like to hear from awd owners too.
