considering i've never seen the lamp sensor go bad, i'd be more inclined to say there might still be a bulb out or poor quality bulb.
-
sure it only takes a few minutes but the tool wasn't free.

i've done quite a few of these that were just at quick lube places. tube is easy to knock off.

As previously posted, I got CEL and code came out P0420.
So i replaced Cat. Converter @ 279,XXX.(Universal) Now i have 284,000 on my car.
Again CEL shows up. run code through Autozone : P0420.
While CEL on I was driving and light disappear.
No more Check Engine Light.
What happens?
please advise.
Thanks in advance..
let me try this again...UNIVERSAL CATALYTIC CONVERTERS ARE GARBAGE!!!!
i do this for a living...people and other shops bring me problems cars...take it for what its worth. i wouldn't put a universal catalytic converter on anything, period!

Thank you for your inputs.
I did replaced with Universal Cat. Total cost=$185
Thanks,
there's your problem

i'm sure anything can be "done", but my guess it would be cheaper and easier to trade your car for a 2001 gs430 with these options.
-
about $7k loaded
i wouldn't even think of renting it out.

Pilkington and LOF are now the same company...i can't remember who bought who. the glass company i use in my shop carries Pilkington and PPG. i've never had a problem with either of them.
i still find it funny that people actually think lexus (or any other auto manufacturer) produces things like glass and paint. PPG, Pilkington, Dupont etc didn't get so sucessful just selling to aftermarket or by creating inferior products.

since i have the factory scan tool i can do them myself. i just picked up a 2004 ls and there are 17 systems that can be customized. a lot of fun to play around with. the 1st thing i always change is the stupid "2 click" to open all door setting. i understand its for safety and all, but i want all 4 doors open when i hit the button.

the lubricant will work for a bit and you can redo it again and again. the real fix is to remove the steering intermediate shaft and buff it with a wire wheel to smooth it out.

Has anyone ever used universal cats on 98-2005 gs300?:cries:
i have not used universal cats, i just got headers, eliminated the cats and got o2 simulators.
you would fail a state inspection in PA for doing this.
universal cats are like flushing money down the drain.
try contacting a company called davico. not sure if they will deal direct with you or not. if you send them your cat they can "clone" it.

...or find an independent that knows what they are doing, uses oem parts and charges a fair price like $34.95, plus throws in a car wash with every service. B)
-
as for the different sizes yes they both work. in fact the number that wix lists for this crosses over to the v6 filter. personally i use the bigger one in my shop.

I would never accept aftermarket glass on any car, it always has waves unless it is up to LEXUS OEM standards which is why the cheaper one is $300 because it has much less layers coatings and quality control.
well the problem is that most people do not read the fine print on the insurance policies. most people are looking for the cheapest insurance and never take the time to find out that they signed with a company that only pays for a/m parts when available. some insurance companies will only pay for a/m if its available and the car is older than 1 year.
also another reason parts like this are more money is that the auto manufacturer needs to make its % of profit. if its a part that they don't control the manufacturing of they need to charge more. take belts for an example. bando is the supplier for toyota and while the dealer is very competitive on these i can still buy bando belts for almost 40% less.

i'm just amazed that anyone thinks lexus actually produces glass. this ranks right up there with asking for "lexus" paint on your car.
-
yep that's the way it works. one option is to keep an eye out on ebay to see if anyone is selling a used ecm with matching keys.

just hope that you don't ever need anything special for it like a wheel or emblem. lexus has discontinued supplying most of this stuff. i persoannly wouldn't buy one for this reason. that goes for platinum editions and coach ones as well.
Where did you hear this?!?
local lexus dealer i've buying parts from since lexus was born. it took me 2 months to find a coach wheel for a 99. customer had to have the coach wheel even though it was cheaper to buy 4 nice condition used regular es wheels.

front upper control arms!!!
sure everyone will say change the bushings, but i say how does that improve an old ball joint???
after dealing with this problem on my car for the last year (swaying at HIGH speeds) and countless alignments, i finally bit the bullet and bought the front upper arms. what a difference especially with the new lower arm (B position) and kyb's all around. now i can once again cruise at 100+mph w/o a problem.

don't know what to tell you about the search button there chiefy, but this topic has been discussed over and over. while most of us don't mind helping, it gets old explaining the same thing over and over again.
-
why would the car need to be aligned after changing the axles???
also on this design trans the axles bolt on and you won't lose any fluid if removed.
as for changing them on the car...we only do this when necessary. its a huge pain in the !Removed!. just pull them out and replace them on the bench. not only is it easier, the job turns out better.

$850 is a little bit high. should be in the $700 range using an aftermarket assm
-
the bando is def the oem supplier for toyota. toyota isn't in the rubber business, not yet at least.

C'mon youse guys! All these reads and not one suggestion of whether this task can be performed? I'm planning a trip to south Florida (1,000 miles roundtrip) and want a little piece of mind before I leave.
Thanks,
Rainman
i'm almost 110% certain i or someone else has covered this topic before. instead of getting snippy try using the f"ing search button!!!!
